Phil Kassel gets his first Leafs hat trick as the Leafs hang on

Phil Kassel scored his first hat trick as a Leaf in a 6-5 Leafs victory over the Ottawa Senators and has 4 points in the first two games and Dion Phaneuf had an assist in the game and has 3 points in the first two games while Jeffery Lupul has a goal and 4 points in the first two games as the Leafs go to guys are on the right track. James Reimer faced 16 shots in the first two periods off the game and made the first 44 saves of the season as he ended up having a 101 minute shutout streak but in the third period the Leafs defense fell asleep as the Senators scored 5 goals on 16 shots and the Leafs 4-0 lead after 40 minutes was not comfortable but when Colton Orr during his 3 minutes on the ice put a goal behind Alex Alud to make it 5-1 it really felt that it was over. The Leafs had almost 2 minute 2 man advantage and could not do anything with it but when Daniel Alfredsson was the first out of the box and Chris Phillips got a puck out of the zone and had a short-handed breakaway goal and then when with Mike Komisarek and 6 seconds later Dion Phaneuf was careless with the puck and got a delay of game gave the Sens a 2 man advantage with 5:35 left in the game and they scored 2 goals on the power play as Jason Spezza and Alfredsson scored to make it 5-4. When Phil Kassel scored his hat trick goal with 2:19 left in the game but the Sens Stephane Da Costa scored 25 seconds later and the Leafs had to hold on for dear life and did.

The Leafs now have a week off to practice before playing next Saturday at home to the Calgary Flames @ home and best news for Leafs fans is that they are winning at home because if the Leafs are going to make the playoffs they will need as many points as possible at home.

Lets hope the Leafs have a good season
