NHL Trade deadline 2011 - Panthers traded almost everybody, Capitals trade to boost their less than exciting power play, Canucks getting ready for a playoff run with some trades, and even more trades

2011 NHL trade deadline deals

Jason Arnott traded to the Capitals for David Steckel and a second round draft pick in next year's entry draft and Arnott can be a good second or third line center and is the second Capital who has a Stanley Cup ring. The Devils get 28 year old David Steckel who has 5 goals and 11 assists in 57 games as a Capital this season which means the Devils get a second round draft pick for an unrestricted free agent.

Dennis Wideman traded to the Capitals from the Panthers who got prospect Jake Hauswirth and a third round draft pick in this summer's entry draft. Dennis Wideman has been brought in to better 20th best power play of the Capitals that was the best power play in the league last season.

The Vancouver Canucks went out and got Maxim Lapierre and MacGregor Sharp (probably headed to the AHL) from the Ducks for Joel Perreault and a third round draft pick while getting Chris Higgins from Panthers and gave up Evan Oberg and another third round draft pick so that the Canucks added depth for their hopeful long run into the playoffs.

The Panthers were done yet as they traded Bryan McCabe for long forgotten Sergei Samsonov (yes the other first round draft pick when the Boston Bruins drafted Joe Thorton) to the Hurricanes which is a head scratcher because why would the Panthers really want Sergei Samsonov anyways as he is not anywhere near a upcoming player as he is more like a player who has never reached his full abilities.

Dustin Penner traded to the LA Kings and in return the Oilers got back defensive prospect Colten Teubert (1 round draft pick in 2009), the Kings first round draft pick in this summer's entry draft and a conditional second round draft pick in next years entry draft. The LA Kings in Dustin Penner get a player with 21 goals and 18 assists for 39 points in 62 games and they have Penner for not season too and for the Kings lets hope he gets more points with more scoring opportunities.

Chris Campoli and a conditional 7th round draft pick in next summer's entry draft traded to the Chicago Blackhawks from the Ottawa Senators for Ryan Potulny and a conditional second round draft pick in this summer's entry draft. Chris Campoli a puck moving defenseman who may better the Blackhawks defense as they are having a hard time keeping the puck out of their own net while Ryan Potulny is a 26 year old who has spent as much time in AHL as the NHL in his career and maybe get a good chance with the Senators the rest season as the Senators are fighting for the first draft pick in their season's entry draft.

The Coyotes traded some of their offense which is not the best already in Scotty Upshall and defenseman Sami Lepisto to the Blue Jackets for defensive help in veteran defenseman Rostislav Klesla and a minor league forward Dane Byers and the Coyotes want to be a stronger defensive team in the playoffs and go farther than they did in last year's playoff.

Now let the race for the final playoff spots begin

Hogan going to throw everybody @ TNA over board in a few weeks and who should take over TNA

I understand that Hogan now owns TNA in storyline now but I do not believe that he will be around much longer and will end up back in the WWE before next WrestleMania and might be next year's host of WrestleMania and Eric Bisoff will be going with him. The person with the brains and the money to battle the McMahons and that is a McMahon as in Shane McMahon who ofcourse is the poorest McMahon of all with even Stephanie's kids maybe richer than him. So even though he has less but he still probably has a couple of mil with his shares in WWE that he cashed in and his paydays in the ring and behind scenes and most important is that Shane probably was hurt knowing that he had lost the company to Stephanie and Triple H. He would have the modavation to take the WWE down and he has the intellegents to come up with a game plan and who be able to come up with storylines and would be able to build new talent properly and let the younger talent already there be able to us their talent to the fullest. With his money he would be able to build it properly and not worry about beating WWE right away and when Shane takes over he will be able to bring a lot more eyeballs to the product and it will bring a lot of interest back to wrestling. This would be a battle between the wrestling smarts of Shane and Triple H who will be running the WWE as he will be "retiring" at Mania sgainst the Undertaker.

Hope this really happens

Fitch controls the third round, Bisping gets an illegal shot in that helps him win, and another judging problem

If the prelimins taught us anything to night it was that you do not leave it to the judges you finish your man as Riki Fukuda got robbed by the judge as Nick Ring received an unanimous decision (29-28) where it looked like Nick Ring needed to do something in the final round as it looked like he had lost the first two rounds. he did not do anything in the third but the judges all gave him 2 of the 3 rounds which shocked the announcers along with a cores of boos from the Sydney crowd who did not like the decision.

To start PPV they had Kyle Noke summits Chris Camozzi in the 185 weight class

They start the match with kicks by both fighters until Noke gets Camozzi a body lock and a take down and has control of him they fight for second and Noke gets Camozzi's back and hooks in for the rear-naked choke for the win @ 1:35 of the first round and the Aussie fans are happy again as one of their own wins.

Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole in the 170 weight class

This was a very back and forth match with Ebersole starts with a cartwheel kick but Lytle is not fazed and comes back with a combo to the body and the head and took control for a little ended up with Lytle locking on a guillotine but they flip a couple of times and Lytle ends up on top with a half guard and Ebersole also has Lytle in a side headlock and then Ltyle gets his second guillotine on him from full guard but ends up letting go and getting back to his feet. Lytle eats some elbows against the fence from Ebersoe and ends up dropping down for an attempt at another guillotine that did not work so he tried to switch to a triangle choke put fought it and repositioned himself and was on top on Lytle and a big shoulder smash from Ebersoe opened up Lytle who needed the cut man to fix him up but still controlled most of the round.

Second Round they countered each others kicks and punches until Ebersoe took Lytle to the ground but he gets right back up and then another take down with a jumping knee and Ebersoe puts a choke on Lytle but ends up letting go of it and Lytle uses the cage to get up but is put down again and gets up again and finally taken down one last time after collar tie and this time he keeps pounding him with shoulder shots from full guard as Embersoe had a big round.

Third and final round winner takes all Ebersoe starts again with cartwheel kick but this time just lands flat on his back but Lytle does not take advantage and lets him up and Ebersoe eats a flurry from Lytle who then tries a standing kimura and they go to the mat where Lytle had a arm in guillotine but releases and Ebersoe has a body lock on as they get back to their feet. Then later they are on the mat again and Lytle has a half guard but Ebersoe rolls him and Lytle lets go and Ebersoe ends up on top in a full guard. After Ebersoe loses his mouth piece and a minute left Lytle gives some knees to the head and then is taken down but rolls through and gets up again and Ebersoe finishes with some big elbows and Lytle is blooded and after the bell Ebersoe falls on to his back with a big smile on his face and he won the fight 30-27,29-28,29-28.

George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver in the 185 weight class

George gets the home town reaction and crowd starts chanting and the match interesting when George caught Siver's kick and had him up against the cage and Siver hits George while hopping on one foot and George releases his other leg and Siver takes control the next part of the round as he landed a front kick, a big leg kick, and then a wheel kick and then later in the round George gets knocked down by a left hook and got up and then dropped by a hook again and tries for the knock out punch that does not happen but Siver was solid in the round.

Second round George tries to box with Siver to set up something else but Siver lands a right, a front kick, and a right kick while George shoots and tossed a side and Siver comes back with a head kick and then George got a hold of Siver's leg but he gets it free and follows with a front kick and then landed some punches. After leg kick by Siver and George lands a left hand and grab a single leg but Siver broke free and with 30 seconds left in the round George lands a right hand and a head kick.

Third Round Siver lands a head kick and later George goes for a single leg take down but does not get it and landed a head kick and a jab instead and then Siver controlled the rest of the round and block 2 George take downs as Siver walks away with the decision (29-28,30-28,30-27).

Michael Bisping vs. Jorge Rivera 185 weight class

They are yapping at each other as they enter the cage Bisping gets the first take down but Rivera is back up and then is taken down easy and gets to his knees where Bisping connects with an illegal knee and a point is taken away from Bisping and still continues with the match and lands a head kick but the second round Bisping blitz Rivera until he can not defend himself and the match is called. TKO win Bisping 1:54 of the second round.

B.J. Penn vs. Jon Fitch 170 weight class

Penn comes out and looks for a quick take down but Fitch blocks it and Penn has Fitch against the cage and leans on him but Fitch turns him and tries for his own take down graping Penn's leg but Penn punches him in face to stop him and Fitch backs up and lands some punches. Fitch drops down to try another take down and instead eats elbows to the side of his head and lands some more shots and gets the take down and goes for a triangle choke but Fitch turtles out and then breaks Penn's guard and gets on top and they get back up and Fitch tries another take down before the bell but does not happen.

Second round Fitch lands a high kick and then a take down and kept him there with knees to the shins but Penn finally gets up but Fitch hanging on to a leg and then they exchange knees and punches and then exchange elbows and then finally some elbows and knees from Penn lands and open up Fitch and he needs some work done on his nose before the round is over. Penn gets a double leg take down and takes Fitch's back and they fall to the mat and Fitch is on top and need to do some damage and gets some good shots in before the end of the round.

Third Round Fitch comes out and lands a big right hand and gets a take down and gets full guard and lands some punches and landing elbows and then Penn fights to feet and Fitch lands a punch along with another take down and when Penn got back up he received a body lock on him and received knees to his back and wear down Penn as Fitch dominates the round and helps him with a majority decision (29-28,28-28,28-28).

The background of the Kevin Lowe and Brain Burke feud

The background of the Kevin Lowe and Brain Burke feud

The whole thing started back in 2005-06 coming out of the lockout and entering the salary cap era and shocker was Chris Pronger signing almost a max salary with the Edmonton Oilers and went into the playoffs as the 8th seed and went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final and lost to the Carolina Hurricanes. In the off-season things hit the fan as Chris Pronger demanded a trade out of Edmonton and this is when Brain Burke came to Kevin Lowe's door and basically said I will take this media disaster off your hands and gave the Oilers Joffrey Lupul and Ladislav Šmíd along with 2 first round draft picks and a second that none have turned out to work out for the Oilers. Then Kevin Lowe decided to get even with Brain Burke and signed Dustin Penner when he was a restricted free agent to an offer sheet which Burke decided to take the package of picks but he was not happy about how it went down as Burke said he found out about the offer sheet through the media because Lowe did not phone him and tell him about the offer sheet. This started the fireworks of Lowe and Burke going through the media and it kept going until Kevin Lowe was released by the Oilers and the Chris Pronger trade worked out for the Ducks as they won the Stanley Cup in the 06-07 season and then the Dustin Penner offer sheet of 5 years and 21.25 mil and has good goal and point production. For the money he is getting he should be putting up better numbers than 23 goals and 47 points in his first season and 32 goals and 63 points in his third season with the Oilers.

Burke talks trades too much in the media

NBA Trade deadline - Celtics gets really small while Baron Davis going to the worst team for a second

Celtics trade Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Thunder for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic in a very surprising trade with Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic are smaller Kendrick Perkins who is a unrestricted free agent in the off-season and the Celtics players are not happy with the trading of Perkins. This deal will make the Thunders tougher and Jeff Green can be tendered a contract in the off-season which means the Celtics Brass is looking beyond this season even though it is one of their last big chance to pick up a tittle.

Baron Davis goes from being in the car for Griffen's final dunk in the dunk off on Saturday night to heading to the worst team in the NBA the Cavs and a head coach Byron Scotthave had theirs issues and a first round draft pick (10-15 probably). while the Clippers get Lebron's mother's favorite basketball player other than Lebron himself Mo Williams (the two may or may not have dated when Lebron was on the Cavs) along with former Raptor extra piece Jamario Moon. The Cavs get a middle of the pack first round pick to help rebuild and a little cap reliefs when they buy out Baron Davis and he lands in a place like south beach with the 3 kings.

The Atlanta Hawks finally got the message which is that the top of the Eastern Conference is really good and they are really average beating up on the lesser likes so they traded ike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans, and a first round draft pick for a veteran role player in Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong a bench guy so the Hawks lose some of their starts in like Bibby who has had his numbers drop off but so has Hinrich this season and Evans who started 12 games this season.

Portland Trail Blazers get Gerald Wallace and gave up Joel Przybilla and Dante Cunningham along with two first round draft picks to the Bobcats which is a salary dump for the Bobcats while Gerald Wallace will be with the Trail Blazers for like three seasons at big bucks but the Bobcats got 2 first draft picks which is always a good thing to get.

Rockets trade Shawn Battier to the Grizzlies for Hasheem Thabeet and a first round draft pick so the Rockets like the first round pick while picking up Hasheem Thabeet who was a second overall in 2009 and has not panned out and I guess that the Grizzlies are looking for big things from Shawn Battier who is a Unrestricted free agent so they will have to resign him or it is a horrific trade.

Thanks

Carmelo Anthony finally gets his way as he is traded the New York Knicks and a Nugget is smarter a Raptor/Cav

The New York Knicks got Carmelo Anthony along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman while the Denver Nuggets got Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov. The Knicks got the franchise player Carmelo Anthony which is a good combination with Amar'e Stoudemire and to have Chauncey Billups dishing to these two superstars for the next season and if they want to go after CP3 or another top young point guard. The Nuggets look like they get Danilo Gallinari and Timofey Mozgov long term with Danilo Gallinari has 16 points and 5 boards while Timofey Mozgov 4 points and 3 boards and will get more minutes in Denver because he had 13.5 a game in New York while also getting Raymond Felton who has had a break out season with 17 points and 9 assists a game but how much was that Amar'e Stoudemire being so good as their is nobody like him to help Raymond look better.

The deal looks better for Denver getting Danilo Gallinari and Timofey Mozgov with a first round draft pick in 2114 and a couple of second rounders in between now and then and looking how Bosh left the Raptors with a couple of picks along with a trade exception that runs out after a while of not being used and this also goes for Lebron and the Cavs. While the Knicks now have 2 great pieces in Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony but now the question is what pieces are they going to add to them to make them a top notch team in the very competitive Eastern Conference and it will take them a couple of games to get to know each other as they now have 6 players on their team that were not there before the All-Star Weekend with the addition of Corey Brewer from the Minnesota TimberWolves.

Lets see how this trade works out in the end

Canadian media battle between Rogers's Fan 590 Vs Bell's TSN radio is looking more and more like David against Goliath

Canadian media battle between Rogers's Fan 590 Vs Bell's TSN radio is looking more and more like David against Goliath

If you look at the personalities at Rogers Sportnets Fan 590 and TSN radio it is really no contest as for hockey insiders as Fan 590's Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean Vs TSN radio's Pierre McGuire and Bob Mackenzie which is a no contest because most people would listen Pierre and Bob especially Bob Mackenzie. With NFL/CFL insider with Fan 590's PERRY LEFKO/Jim Lang Vs Chris Schultz where Chris is just the best NFL/CFL insider out there while in basketball the two both have Jack Armstrong as their insider. In Baseball TSN talks about what is going around Baseball and Sportsnet talks more about the Blue Jays than the rest of league which means that TSN has more Personalities than Sportsnets.

MOJO radio AM 640 the home of Toronto Maple Leafs may be going under and changing their format which will put guys like Bill Waters and Brain Hayes on the opening market and Fan 590 needs to get their hands on one or both of these guys as they have nothing to match TSN radio and it is not even up yet. Also they need to put George Stroumboulopoulos on the air as soon as possible because if they do not have George or someone big than the Fan 590 will be torched by TSN radio and Don Kollins the Fan 590 program director has completely destroyed the station when he came in and took out everybody except Bobcat and nothing has worked out yet and will have to retool again in the next month so that their ready for the hand to hand combat. With AM 640 maybe going under it also means that TSN radio will pick up Toronto Maple Leafs and will be a huge number rating wise 2 or 3 times a week as not everybody can always be watching on TV as sometimes people are still in their cars and if you put Raptors and Leafs head to head the Leafs would destroy the Raptors even if the Raptors were the better team.

A month away

What are Carmelo Anthony and Albert Pujols are thinking

To start what is Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets thinking lets start with the labor strife that may happened after the season and Carmelo Anthony wants a max contract of 3 years and 70 mil which the Nuggets would have no problem signing him to this contract but Carmelo Anthony really does not want to stay in Denver. Then Carmelo Anthony wanted to be in New York City and play for the Knicks but the Knicks know this and has decided to just sign him in the off-season while the New Jersey Nets and their owner Mikhail Prokhorov has decided to bring Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey and then relocate to Brooklyn a year from now which is in the area of New York City but does not have any interest in going to New Jersey. If Mikhail Prokhorov was ever able to convince him to come to New Jersey for a season the Nuggets would end up set for the next few seasons getting 4 first round draft picks while basically trading the Nets to Denver and the Nuggets to New Jersey. The Lakers also tried to trade for Carmelo but Denver does not like the Laker deal while Carmelo would have no problem signing the deal with the Lakers as he has a house in LA and Carmelo came out last week and said that he would maybe resign with Denver as he is not very confident going into the uncertainty of the off-season labor strife. Carmelo Anthony may decide to go with the Nets today and this may be a good idea for him because he would be close to New York City and after 3 seasons he could end up going to the Knicks and in the end he has scored an average of 24 points a game but it is the defense that has kept the Nuggets down in the playoffs and not get anywhere near the NBA championship.

What is Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals is thinking and it is that his ego has gotten in his way as he is wanting to be the highest paid player in baseball as he is asking for 10 year deal for the huge amount of 300 millions while Pujols may also have the player union in his ear. On the other hand it sounds like the Cardinals have not come even close to his demands as their contract offer does not even put him in the top 5 of yearly salary and Albert Pujols has asked that no contract after the beginning of Spring Training so he does not have to deal with contract question throughout the baseball season but in the end he will still have a lot of reports asking him the question basically after every game he plays this season. He has had 10 seasons of 30 homers which is the only player to start a career with these amount of homers while he also has a 100 rbis and 310 batting average in all of his 10 seasons and for the Cardinals it is all about that he would be like 41 years old by the end of the contract. He could end up with a team like the Cubs who is the top rival of the Cardinals and the Cubs sound like they want him because the owner came out and said that he would give a guy a 10 year deal but he could also end up back with the Cardinals in the end because he has no problem with the Cardinals or their fans.

This drama may be over soon or may keep going on for the whole season with constant talk about it

WWE Elimination Chamber - A night of returns and fruit pebbles main eventing Mania

To Start the night the first match of the night is Kofi Kingston Vs Roberto Del Rios

It was a match of near finishing with a distracting ring announcer that gave a visual pin spot with Kofi getting the visual pin on Del Rios and the big spot of the match was Kofi on the top rope to give a cross body and Rios jumped up and kneed him on the way down and Rios won with his arm bar.

Next was the Smackdown elimination chamber

This is when the first surprise of the night happened with Big Show being added to replace Ziggler and Mystero got beat up three times with the first being hung upside on the top turnbuckle and got speared by Edge and then got thrown into the chamber head first and then was thrown into a pod door and ended going through the door. Then Barrett also went through a couple of pod doors and Mystero also jumped off the top of a pod onto Big Show and Show got a lot of finishing moves and ended with a choke slam by Ksne to be eliminated and it ended with each getting out of each others finishers and in the end Edge speared both Drew and Mystero at the same time and finally pinned Mystero with a spear to win the match. After the match Del Rios came in and beat down Edge and get an arm bar on him and then Christian's music hit and he came down to take care of Del Rios and the crowd went crazy for this and Edge got a spear on Del Rios at the end and selling his arm.

Then Booker T who was on announcing got into the ring and announced that he was a trainer for tough enough and introduced another of the trainers for tough enough and was the biggest return of the evening as Trish came out and did a mix of a Rock and Booker T promo.

Next was Tag team Championship

This match was clean finish for the Core who are now the new champions as they beat Kavloz and Marella and Jackson was ringside and only got Gabriel out of ring when he was the illegal man in the ring.

Then a very quiet Vicki came down to the ring with crying excuse me and was asking everybody to tell Teddy Long on facebook , twitter, and phone calls to get Dolph Ziggler back on Smackdown and then Teddy came out and said he was in a rehiring mood and Vicki said thank you, thank you and then Teddy said I did not rehire Dolph bur I did rehire someone you fired. Kelly Kelly's took a while to hit but it finally did and she ran after Vicki and finally got on top of Vicki in the ring and then LayCool came in and took down Kelly Kelly until Trish came down and helped Kelly until LayCool came back and took out Trish to end the segment.

Then it was Jerry Lawler Vs the Miz for the WWE title

Alex Reiley was interfering in the match but then he was tossed from the ringside and the spot of the match was Miz thrown to the announcer table and took out Cole and he was finally off announcing and Booker and Josh said finally we can speak and Miz won clean and then they put the camera on Cole who was celebrating on the floor and then got into the ring and raised Miz's hand in the victory and then was back on announcer table and berried Lawler as he went back to the locker to setup the Mania match.

Then Cena was eating Fruity pebbles and then went to CM Punk interview where he said that Cena has not beating him in three matches and the minute of the match was CM Punk was brought into the ring but the referee outside the ring could not undo the lock and Orton dragged him in the ring and RKO'd him and eliminated him but wait the GM spoke and decided to put Punk back into a pod to come out later. Also John Morrison climbed to the top of the chamber and got all the way to the middle and fell on top of Shemus to eliminate him and then it was down to him, Punk, abd Cena and Morrison tried to kick Cena through a pod door but Cena moved out of the way and Morrison drilled his leg through the door and was injured the rest of the match and it was down to Punk and Cena and Cena won the match and going against the Miz.

It was a great Pay Per View event and set up the matches for Mania and I am very excited about Mania after watching the event.

Canadians are doing well on the tennis tours while another Canadian Youtube sensation is found and gets a call from a pop prince

Rebecca Marino got all the way to the final in the WTA tournament in Memphis against Magdalena Rybarikova and the resident of Montreal Quebec who is originally from Vancouver BC ended up having to retire after the first set which she struggled through the set and had a hard time to be able to finish off points and it turned that she was playing with abdominal injury coming into the match. The 81 ranking of Rebecca Marino will be much better starting Monday and probably moving very close to the top 50 and at 20 years old made her first WTA final and hopefully has very bright future ahead of her. While Milos Raonic has been tearing the cover off the ball with serves of over 140 miles per hour and has been winning against all comers in the last 2 weeks winning every match in San Jose to win the tittle and then has won every match going into Sundays final against his stiffest test as he faces Andy Roddick a true top 10 player in the world and also has a pretty fast serve himself. Even if Milos loses to Roddick he will still be the highest ranked men tennis player of all time with being ranked 33Rd in the world as of Mondays rankings and just like Marino he to is only 20 years old and has really shown the tennis world what he is made of in the first month and a half of 2011 as he has been in quarterfinals in 4 tournaments so far this year so he is really exciting to watch and Sundays match will be fun especially as you can get under Roddick's skin and really get him off his game.

Canadian singing sensation 10-year-old Maria Aragon of Winnipeg Manitoba got the surprise of a live time when a Toronto Radio station brought her on air to sing and instead had set up a over the phone meet and great with Lady Gaga who one of the singers that Maria has sung a song of on youtube and the radio is now bring Maria to Toronto for Lady Gaga's concert in Toronto on March 4. Then Lady Gaga said that Maria should come on stage with her and sing the song with her and I believe whoever came up with the idea of having Lady Gaga phone in is a brilliant as it was a great setup and Maria will probably signed to Lady Gaga's label very soon. So Maria will need to be given right the handlers because she may be on her way for the ride of a lifetime and during an interview in Winnipeg she had said she would like to be on Ellen show which I can imagine will be happening within the next couple of weeks but at least in the next month and with Gaga by her side Maria will be every very very soon.

Good night

WWE Elimination Chamber preview and who should replace Ziggler in the chamber

WWE Elimination Chamber

Miz Vs Jerry Lawler

Michael Cole will help Miz beat Lawler when Lawler has a chance to win the match and it will setup Jerry Lawler's first and probably only WrestleMania wrestling match of his 3 or 4 decade wrestling career. Cole may even be the referee of the match as he has been a heel referee on a number of house show or the last few month.

Smackdown Elimination Chamber match for the world championship

To start Dolph Ziggler is out of the match and this would be a great spot for Christian to make a return to the WWE and he will take Ziggler's spot. Edge will continue to be the world championship and head to WrestleMania to face Alberto Del Rio and this match should be a good one with Rey Mysterio with some high spots while Drew McIntyre will be the first elimination.

RAW Elimination Chamber match winner takes on Miz at WrestleMania

John Cena is going to win the match while John Morrison will come up with a spot in the chamber that will be remembered for years and will hopefully setup a good spin off rivalry with CM Punk and Morrison probably will eliminate Punk as well. Orton will have a couple of RKO's on like Shamus and maybe even R-true to guys who will have no impact on the match will probably the first two eliminated in the match.

Kofi Kingston Vs Alberto Del Rio

Kofi Kingston is the Intercontinental champ but will not be putting it on the line against Alberto Del Rio which means to things one the WWE does not know how to keep secondary titles strong and two that Del Rio will be going over strong with some illegal moves to keep him as a strong heel as he faces Edge at WrestlerMania.

Tag Team Title match Santino Marella & Vladimir Kazlov (champs) Vs The Core (Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater)

This will be the title change of the night with Justin & Heath becoming the two time Tag Team Champions and it may even plant the seeds of Kazlov turning on Santino which will happen soon and then they will a small single feud and then Santino will get ready to married to Tamina and Kazlov will go into hiding for a few month until needed next time to do almost anything. Titles look good on the Core and will setup maybe a tag match against against two guys from the new Nextus @ WrestleMania for the tittles.

Hope U enjoy the pay-per-view

Tomas Kaberle traded to the Boston

The Leafs make another trade with the Boston Bruins this after they have already traded Tuukka Rask for Andrew Raycroft and followed by Phil Kessel for a first (Tyler Seguin) and a second (Jared Knight) in 2010 and another first round in 2011 and now the Leafs trade Tomas Kaberle for Joe Colborne who is a first or second center but is looking like a hockey player who may not play up to his 6'6 size as he is playing like a smaller play. This is a common situation as Leafs fans have had to deal with players who just not want to hit, go into the corners, or going to the net to get it done and Colborn is a Bruins first round draft pick in 2008. While also receiving the Bruins first round draft pick in 2011( I did say Bruins which means 20 to 30's pick in the draft not the Leafs top 10 pick) and this along with the Philadelphia Flyers first round draft so that Burke has 2 late first round draft picks so his scouting staff will need to look under every rock looking for gems to rebuild the lowly Leafs into a team that fans can really support without covering their eyes.

So in the end my only question to Leafs fans is why why why would you ever want to trade with the Bruins because the Leafs have not come close to even getting fair value for what they have given up over the last few seasons.

Leafs fans keep your head up high

Miguel Cabera arrested for another DUI

Miguel Cabera arrested for another DUI

So Miguel Cabera of the Detroit Tigers who was one of top canadates for the AL MVP last season was spotted by a deputy 11o miles southeast of Lakeland, Florida in a car with motor running which is the area that the Detroit Tigers having been training for the start of spring training baseball. Sadly for Tigers fans sounds more like the 2009 Miguel who Tiger manager Jim Leyland did not know what to do with him as he was sat on the bench that season and more important he also was allegedly plaster beyond belief for the season finale and played. So back to the story Miguel when the deputy spoke to him the deputy said reeked of alcohol and had slurry speak and then to top it off he took a swig out of a bottle of scotch right in front of the deputy and backup had to be called as he was extremely uncooperative. This can not be a good sign even if the Tigers tried to trade for big Albert from St. Louis or what a set back for the team if this goes on for the season or if he is sent to rehab it will put him ready to start the season in May as he would be in rehab for a few weeks followed by a couple more weeks of late spring training to get his fielding back to where it needs to be and more importantly to get his bat back up to speed and that in total would be 30 to 40 games into the season before he takes a major league a bat. So in the end the Tigers will need to find someone to fill in for him and some one to pick up his production most likely Brandon Inge who is coming off a season that was less than expected after being on the final ballot for the all-star in '09 and the Tigers likely to have a tough beginning to the season but at least their in AL central where anyone not named the Kansas City Royals have a chance to win the division and a team coming from nowhere to win the division would not be to surprising.

the rock has come back to the wwe and is here to stay for a while at least

The Rock Dwayne Johnson is the host of WrestleMania XXVII and willa be getting a huge payday probably 2 or 3 Mil and he will also be around for some month and he will be taken on John Cena @ Summerslam this summer and will be the way John Cena will finally be a heel again. The Rock will have good build up with a lot of good promos from the Rock and a heel John Cena whose promos will be better than his baby face promos as they are old and worn down right now. Cena will lose at WestleMania to the Miz and he will blame the lose on the Rock like the Rock assigning the ref for the match and the ref messes up the finish to cost Cena the title and I believe that the Rock as the host of WrestleMania he will bring back Jim Ross for the upcoming match between Lawler and Cole match at WrestleMania which will bring down the house as the fans would love to see Ross for an one night stand. The Rock will have a good run until he starts up his new film career in 6 month to a year from now as he is looking to revive his movie career to get over a few movie flops.

I hope the Rock do will at WrestleMania XXVII

Who is going to be the host of WrestleMania 27 and Edge had his retirement tour ruined by the UFC

The host of WrestleMania 27 will be Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson as he has been trying to do bits and pieces for the WWE for years now and when Vince says it needs a big star to host WrestleMania really the only other option is himself as Stone Cold is coming in the day after WrestleMania for tough enough and the Rock will bring back a few fans from the past to buy this Pay-Per-View this March and RAW is in Anthem which is close to Hollywood which is a good place to find the Rock.

Edge while doing a house show in Toronto a week ago said he wold be back to retire next March and the idea over like a year or so that WrestleMania 28 would be back in the building that Edge and myself (i do not know him i was just in the building) watched WrestleMania VI in what was then called the SkyDome now the Rogers Center when we were young kids. The plan would of worked out except that the UFC has decided to put the UFC events in Toronto in April and it would hurt the selling of WrestleMania tickets and the fall back plan of having over 72,000 at Joe Robby Stadium in Miami Florida was a great back up plan but it really puts a wrench into the retirement and going straight into the WWE hall of fame along side Trish Stratus who would have gone into the hall of fame as well.

Hope for a good RAW tonight

George Stroumboulopoulos is going to be the next morning show host

George Stroumboulopoulos has been around for years and it all started with a radio program called "the Game" which was a weekend overnight program which covered pop culture and then went to 102.1 the edge and much music and did things about music and finally landed at CBC to do a talk show called the hour where he has talked to huge celebrities. He will do 6 to 10 AM to match the hours that Mike Richards does on the TSN Radio when it starts up in 2 month and George Stroumboulopoulos will start at the beginning of March and then the Fan 590 will have a habs fan as their morning show host and it will be a good match up with a national celebrities in George Stroumboulopoulos and a huge sports host named Mike Richards. This will put huge money on the morning show and Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown in the afternoon on the Fan 590 and I am talking close to a mil if not over a mil for each guy so they may use some of their TV money for the radio product.

It is going to a very interesting battle to listen to

MILOS RAONIC does Canada proud as he wins the ATP tournament in San Jose

After getting to the fourth round of the Aussie Open MILOS RAONIC came into this week on a roll and rolled all the way to the ATP (the SAP) final this week and with the winner of the San Jose Open last year FERNANDO VERDASCO across the net from him the first set with a set of holding serve as in the 12 games played before the tiebreaker all were won by the server. In the tie breaker they started by spliting the first 4 points and then FERNANDO VERDASCO got 4 straight points and had 3 shots of winning the first set but MILOS RAONIC rallied off 6 straight points to win the tiebreaker 8-6 and go up one set to none. The second set was like the first set as no server lost a serve in the second set either and 6 point of the tiebreaker was a huge point with MILOS RAONIC up 3-2 and they hit the ball back and forth to each quite a few times and FERNANDO VERDASCO finally hit it into the net to give MILOS RAONIC a 4-2 lead and finally had a match winning point on his serve and did not make a mistake except a fan calling out which helped him winning 7-5 in the tiebreaker to win in straight sets to become the first Canadian tennis player to win an ATP tournament since 1995. He also came into the Aussie Open outside of the top 100 (157th) and now will wake up 59th in the world tomorrow morning and has taken Canada by storm in a sport that Canadians do not pay to much attention to and now will have an interview on sportsnet tomorrow and he is 20 years old in his 10th ATP match.

He gets a sharks jersey and maple syrup along with the trophy and cheque go figure

Andrew Krystal out as the morning host of Sportsnet Fan 590 but still an employee

Andrew Krystal came from down east (maritime) and came to Toronto and the Fan 590 and he hung up on callers and basically ignored the callers opinions and thought that his option is the only right opinion and when he had insiders (people with a lot of knowledge on a certain sport) on he would not let them get their point across. The Fan 590 brass decided that Tuesday or Wednesday it was time to replace him on the morning show as they felt he would get killed by Mike Richards when he starts in April. This is awkward timing because one of his last segments on the radio he ran audio clips of Jeff Blair (the guy who was after him) who thinks that the UFC is just guys rolling around in bicycle shorts on mats and Krystal interrupted it as Blair thinking that the UFC is homo erotic and got him to say Gay porn wold be cheaper.

The guy who may replace him for in the near future is Gord Stellick and would be a good choice because he is very knowledgeable about sports and does not take himself to seriously and he may not be able to handle Richards right off the bat but he has a following and if they find him a witty co-host they may have a great following and nobody will match Richards in the morning as Bobcat is not getting up that early to do it. Richards is going to be on fire when he hits the airwaives as I bet as non sport fans will tune in at the beginning to see what the fuss is and then the numbers will level off and that level will be what the Fan 590 will be trying to get close to.

Also because Krystal is buddy buddy with bobcat Krystal has not been fired he has been moved to mop up duty so now Roger Lajoie now has to watch his back as he has been the mop up guy for years for the fan 590 and Krystal will only be released if Bobcat head to the team 1050 when his contract is up.

UFC 129 pre-sale tickets, Senators grant Carrie Underwood a wish, Jerry Salon out as Jazz coach

UFC pre-sale went on sale today and all 42,000 + seats for the event sold out which is a very telling sign of the interest of the UFC in Toronto but there will be more seats on sale for Saturday on sale date and it will probably about 25,000 seats if not more than that. The end result is that the UFC will set a Skydome/Rogers Centre attendances record which was set by WWF and WestleMania XVIII with over 68,000 seats sold.

The Ottawa Senators trade Carrie Underwood's husband (Mike Fisher) to the Nashville Predators which is where Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher live and it should better the Predators # 5 seed in the Western Conference and the Senators receive a first round draft pick and conditional draft picks. While Carrie Underwood is happy that she does not have to constantly go to Ottawa to see her husband and the tag line in Nashville is the Predators trade for Carrie Underwood in hope of maybe get some cross over fans.

Jerry Salon and the Utah Jazz have gone their separate ways days after Salon had agreed to another year on his contract but last night he had altercation with Star player Deron Williams who called his own play in the first half of Wednesday night game and Salon was angry about this and they butted heads @ half-time as the Jazz lost their 10 in their last 14 as they are 16-18 in their last 34 games after starting the season 15-5. He started coaching in 1988 and this then the LA Clippers have had 13 head coaches during this time but the hall of fame coach is missing something on his mantle and that is a championship that slipped through his fingers when he had players like Carl Malone and John Stockton but still had 1221 wins most the Jazz (also coached the Bulls from 1979 to 1982 whhen he entered the Jazz organization as a scout).

Toronto Maple Leafs - The Darryl Sittler 10 point game story what lead up to the game

Darryl Sittler had a magical night on February 7th, 1976 when he had a 10 point game and to set the record for most points in a game and it is a record that Wayne Gretzky was hoping he would break this record.

The start of the story happened the day and night before with first Harold Ballard had come out and said that Lanny McDonald and Errol Thompson needed a centre worthy of playing with them and these were the line mats of Sittler and he was on a 8 game pointless streak. The night before the game the Bruins took Dave Reece out for a night on the town and Dave Reece had too much fun as he was heading back to the AHL because Gary Cheevers had just come back from the WHA and was not ready to play yet and Gilles Gilbert had an knee injury and was not able to play.

Dave Reece gave up all 11 goals in a 11-4 loss to Toronto Maple Leafs and Darryl Sittler had 2 assists in the first period and ended up with 6 goals and 4 assists in the game and the goals in the game of 6 has only been matched by Red Berenson since the original expansion happened in 1967. Also his 10 points in the game was more than his 9 points in 20 playoff games going into the 1976 playoffs and to end it Cheevers played the next night and the Bruins smocked the dead things 7-0 in Detroit.

For all the Leafs fans out there let's hope that Phil Kassel has a game like this to break his point silence

program ideas for TSN Radio

TSN radio is coming in April and I believe that they should get the NFL games on the radio from Sportsnet radio the Fan 590 like the Sunday afternoon games along with the Sunday and Monday Nighters and also it would be in their best interest to get NCAA Football/Basketball games from ESPN radio as there would be a lot of interest in this product. Also I believe that Don Landry formerly of the Fan 590 should be brought in to do comedy bits for the New Mike Richards Show and I can almost guarantee that the Jim Rome Show will be on TSN radio on every week day even though I do not thing that it will be very success as it will be like the Sports Babe on the Fan 590 when it was brand new. I think Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole should have at least a weekly show on the station as they are the funniest combo on TSN right now and would have a great show making fun of each other and funny situations of the week. The only thing better than these 2 guys should be Tim and Sid uncut which is the best sports radio program on the internet @ hardcoreradio/ tim&sid:uncut. Also TSN radio during the CFL season they should have a weekly CFL program with Chris Schultz and Dave Randorf and maybe the some of the other panel members to discuss the upcoming games in the CFL and during the NFL season they should have Chris Schultz and anyone else doing a weekly NFL program to discuss upcoming games in the NFL.

the battle will be tough

SUPERBOWL - Green Bay Packers pick up 3 turnovers and a Lombardi Trophy too

The game began with an actress from Glee I think she was trying to sing America the Beautiful no matter what it was it was horrible and Pennsylvania native Christina Agulara tried to sing the national Anthem and may have messed up the words. When the game started the Steelers went 3 and out and then kick the ball away and a blocker backed into the returner and the ball was the ground but a Packer was at the bottom of the pile with the ball and the first big play of the game was a 24 yard catch by Donald Driver but the Packers kicked it away. Then after another kick by the Steelers the Packers inched their way down the field with Arron Rogers going 5 for 6 helped by a 14 yard catch by Brandon Jackson and finished off by a 29 yard TD catch by Jordy Nelson but was keyed by 2 James Starks runs (7 & 8)and then Ben Roethlisberger throw an interception to Nick Collins who wived through Steelers for 37 yards and dove into the end zone to make it 14-0 Packers. Then Roethlisberger had the first big play for the Steelers which was 18 yard run at the end of the quarter on a 3 down which lead to a field goal to make it 14-3 which was helped by a 13 yard catch by Emmanuel Sanders and then the Steeler D got the stop they needed. Then Mike Wallace catch a 16 yard pass from Roethlisberger and then later a diving grab by Antwaan Randle El for 13 yards but 2 plays later Roethlisberger throw his second interception of the half this time by Jarrett Bush and 4 plays later Greg Jennings was in the end zone with 21 yard TD catch. The first play on the next Steelers drive was Antwaan Randle El catching a 37 yard pass and 2 big catches by Hines Ward of 17 and 14 yards before he catch a 8 yard TD catch to make it 21-10 Packers going into the second half and even worst news on this latest Steelers drive for the Packers was that Charles Woodson got hurt and is out of the rest of the game while Donald Driver was hurt earlier in the half and the Steelers lost receiver Emmanuel Sanders also for the game. To start the second half the Packers got the ball and moved backwards while the Steelers on their first drive of the half ran the ball right at the Packers which worked very well as Rashard Mendenhall ran 17 yards, Isaac Redman runs for 3, Ben Roethlisberger runs for 6, Isaac Redman runs for 16, and Rashard Mendenhall runs 8 yards into the end zone for 6 points as 5 rushes and 50 yards for the TD. Then the Packers go 3 and out again and can not get anything going in the second half and the Steelers get the ball back and Big Ben throws deep to the end zone but puts it in an uncatchable stop and the Steelers get another first down and try a 52 yard field goal that had no chance just like the Packers offense who went 3 and out and did challenge the third down incomplete play which was close but the call was upheld. When the game got into the fourth quarter Rashard Mendenhall ran with the ball until Clay Matthews hit the arm with the ball and Rashard dropped the ball and it was covered by the Packers and on the drive that followed James Jones catch a 12 yard pass on a third down to give the Packers a first down which was close but the Steelers only had a timeout left and decided to not challenge and three plays later Jordy Nelson catch a pass and ran which totaled 38 yards. After a Steeler sack Rogers hit Greg Jennings with a 8 yard TD catch to make it 28-17 Packers and when the Steelers got the ball back Mike Wallace started the drive with 2 big catches (11 and 14 yards) followed by Hines Ward 15 yard catch to setup a 25 yard TD catch and run by Mike Wallace to make it 28-25 with a Antwaan Randle 2 point run. The Packers kept the ball with a 31 yard catch by Greg Jennings and a 14 yard run by James Starks and a James Jones 21 yard catch that setup a field goal to make it 31-25 and the Steelers could not get the ball down the field and then turned the ball over on fourth down and Arron Rogers knelled it down to win and pick up the SUPERBOWL XLV MVP trophy too.
The Packers did not play a great offensive game especially in the second half but Big Ben over throw too many of his passes and the 3 turnovers were costly as it gave the Packers the chance to take the lead or come up with a response to the Steelers on slat and Arron Rogers was able to get enough complete passes to get the job down even though they had receivers dropping 5 passes and kicking all 4 times they had the ball in the third quarter. Jordy Nelson was a busy receiver with 9 catches and 140 yards and they got enough on the ground to keep the Steelers D to not be able to pin their ears back and after Arron Rogers (24 of 39 for 304 and 2 TD) while Ben Roethlisberger was 25 of 40 for 263 yards and 2 TD but 2 costly interceptions.

Great NFL season and hopefully another next season

ufc 126 - Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort and Forrest Griffin Vs Rich Franklin and much more

Chad Mendes controlled Michihiro Omigawa all 3 rounds and one unanimous decision

Donald Cerrone def. Paul Kelly by rear naked choke 3:48 of round 2 and really donated the fight

Kyle Kingsbury destroyed Ricardo Romero in 21 seconds so he must of had a red bull before the match and Romero did not see what was coming.

Demetrious Johnson gets the unanimous decision over Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (29-28,30-27,30-27) Johnson gave a lot of punishment and Kid was taken quite a few times but alway got up right away and Johnson had the strength and power while Kid had the spead in this match.

Antonio Banuelos Vs. Miguel Torres

The Crowd was booing the first round as no one really did anything and the second round Banuelos started by throwing punches when he was not close enough to land anything and the crowd booed him but Torres was not doing much more as he was not aggressive in the round. Banuelos had a broken nose and in the third Torres a few more hits as Antonio was still punching the air and Torres got an unanimous decision (all 3 30-27).

Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha

The first round was punches and counters along with take downs for both fighters as it was an even round and Ellenberger started the second with a flurry of punches and fights off Rocha dive for a takedown with right hands but a Rocha left high kick rocked Ellenberger but shrugs it off and gets a take down of Rocha with 20 seconds who tries a triangle choke but no time left. The third and deciding round Ellenberger gets some quick shots in and Rocha tries to duck low to counter but Ellenberger fights him off along with a Rocha kick to the head and Ellenberger comes back with a hard right and then Rocha goes down after missing another kick and Ellenberger got a takedown to end the final round. split decision (29-28,29-28,27-30) for Jake Ellenberger

Jon Jones (11-1) summits Bader (12-0)

Jon Jones has all the offensive in this one with Bader being able to get out of trouble in the first round as Jones had a choke on Bader and Bader had his arm between Jones arms so Jones let it go and any offensive by Bader in the first was non effective. In the second round Jones owns the round with a jumping kick to the head and then a kick to the leg which then gets a little offense by Bader with a right hand as Jones is in the middle and Bader is trying to make contact by dancing around him but with a minute left Jones gets a power guillotine and Bader taps out.

Forrest Griffin Vs Rich Franklin

Rich gets the first kick in and it is caught by Forrest who takes him down and has all his weight on Rich who tried really hard to change position but could not and Forrest pounded him with punches which did not hurt Rich. Early in the second they exchange a few punches but not a lot but then Rich tries another kick but it is caught again and took his back and got a couple punches in but Rich got back to his feet this time and then Forrest rocked Rich with a left but Rich fired back quickly. The third round Rich throws a couple of bombs which missed Forrest head and both fighters looked tried but later Forrest gets a left hook and body kick combo and Rich comes back with a right that lands and with 80 seconds left Forrest takes down Rich and then with 50 seconds left Rich reverses the take down.Forrest Griffin wins an unanimous decision (29-28).

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort

The first minute was a feel out session with nothing happening until Silva attempts a kick that Belfort catches and takes him down but Silva is quickly back to his feet and Belfort lands a left hook and Silva danced backwards and out of nowhere Silva landed a front kick that landed right on Belfort's chain and he was out before he hit the mat and Silva jumped on him throw a couple of punches until the ref calls it.

more bad news for Rick DIPIETRO, Arenas gets a halftime present, and the Bears have found a receiver that can caught the ball

For Rick DIPIETRO it all started December 26,2007 in the warm up for a home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs when he pulled something in his leg and after being pulled from the game he would continue playing until March '08 with the injury and he played some of his worst hockey in his career to that point and mercifully the Islanders shut him down for the rest of the season. He had to have surgery and then more surgery and played 5 games for the Islanders in '08-'09 season and 8 games in '09-'10 season as he had a horrible time trying to get over the injury that he had made worst by playing on it for 2 to 3 month before getting surgery and then this season he has played 21 games and had trouble stopping the puck. Then Wednesday night at the end of another Islanders loss Rick sees Matt Cook of the Pittsburgh Penguins coming down the ice as he is trying to move the puck to safety and makes contact with Cook and a huge fight starts and Rick calls for Brett Johnson the penguins goalie to come down. he did and they dropped their gloves and Johnson lead with if weaker hand and contacted with Rick's face and he is down and out because he was expecting Johnson to lead with his stronger hand and the end result is now Rick is out 4 to 6 weeks with a face/leg injury.

Gilbert Arenas and the Magic were facing the Heat on Thursday and he got an interesting present as he went back to the locker room at halftime as he passes the fans to go into the tunnel he has a hand with a piece of paper in it come out of the crowd and he takes it and then he looks at it and stares at it and stops for a second as he realizes that he was just handed child support papers.

The Bears have signed a wide receiver that can caught pass and went to the great white north to sign Andy Fantuz who was the leading receiver in the CFL last season and was the first Canadian to lead the league in receiving for a season. He has been a very good receiver over the last 4 seasons for the Saskatchewan Roghriders in the CFL and will be able to make big catches and move the chains so he will be able to be a great pick-up for the Bears as he had also received tryouts with the Pittsburgh Steelers (yes that time playing in the big game on Sunday), Minnesota Vikings, and the Colts as well.

Thanks Fantuz for being such amazing player in the CFL for the Roughriders

Green Bay Packers - a history look back

Green Bay Packers - a history look back

The Green Bay Packers was founded by Earl "curly" Lambeau in 1919 and this is the Lambeau in Lambeau field and is the only major sports team that is community owned team in North America and 12 NFL Championship (9 NFL championship and 3 Superbowl rings) while the Packers hold the record for the most home wins in a roll @ 30 between 1929 and 1931 seasons where they one all 3 championship during this time. Don Hutson, a receiver for the Packers, lead the league with receptions in 8 seasons in his 11 seasons as a Packers and the most famous Packer of all is Vince Lombardi who brought 5 championships in 7 seasons which included the first two ever superbowl trophies and the the Superbowl trophy was then renamed it the Lombardi trophy in his honor. The Stars of Lombardi era was Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Carroll Dale, Paul Hornung, Forrest Gregg, Jerry Kramer, Willie Davis, Henry Jordan, Willie Wood, Ray Nitschke, Dave Robinson, and Herb Adderley. The the Packers fateful a quarter of century after this run to recapture the glory that is success and it was brought back by Ron Wolf in 1992 when he hired Mike Holmgren and then made a trade with the Falcons for a quarterback named Brett Farve and the next season the minister of Defense Reggie White was brought in as a free agent and then lost three seasons in a roll to the Dallas Cowboys. Then in 1996 the Packers won Superbowl XXXI for their third ring but then lost their first Superbowl the next season losing to the Denver Broncos with Terrell Davis and John Elway and then Brett Favre continued to play every game while the players around him moved in and out of Green Bay including Wide Receiver Sterling Sharp. Then the next great Packer quarterback was drafted with the 24th pick of the 2005 draft named Arron Rogers and he will be in his first ever Superbowl on Sunday and the future looks good for the Packers in the near future

Cheese heads unite for the big game and maybe # 4 ring

Pittsburgh Steelers a look back at the franchise history

Pittsburgh Steelers a look back at the franchise history

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been known for the terrible towel for years and years and when you see someone waving yellow and black towel it is usually a Steelers towels and the Steelers even have their own theme song "black and yellow" by Wiz Khalifa.

To have the same group of people owing a team 77 years in Rooneys and do not mess with the running of the team and let the football people make the football decisions and it has worked out more often than not.

Pittsburgh Steelers have only had 3 coaches since 1969 (42 seasons) which are Chuck Noll (23 seasons), Bill Cowher (15 seasons), and Mike Tomlin (4 seasons) and Noll has 4 superbowl rings, Bill Cowher has a superbowl ring, and Mike Tomlin has a ring too going into this Super Sunday. They have 2 good quarterbacks in Terry Bradshaw (4 rings) and Big Ben (2 rings going into Sunday) and have great defensive players like Mean Joe Green, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, and Jack Lambert in the 70's while now you have Troy Polamalu, Bryant McFadden, James Harrison, and James Farrior. Then to have receivers like Lynn Swann and John Stallworth and now having a guy like Antwaan Randle El and then running backs like Franco Harris, Jerome Bettis, and now Rashard Mendenhall carry the mail keeping the other offense off the field. This is the mark of a great winning franchise that has won 6 rings in 7 appearances in the big game and even when they did not win the big game or were not in it they still were tough to beat in the playoffs in the 90's so almost every era of Steelers ball have been a winning one and it has always been lead by black and yellow D that turned the other team black and blue by the end of the game.

Rivals

When I hear about the NFL in the 70's two of the more famous teams of those days are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys who meet 3 times in the big game and the Steelers won all 3 meetings while also had huge playoff games against the Oakland Raiders and the winner was headed to the superbowl. Then the Steelers and Browns just saying those 2 names just sounds like a rivalry and then just the back and forth between the Steelers and Ravens over the last decade with those cut throat defenses and the low scoring bloody games that these two teams have are just incredible to see.

Steelers Fans lets see those terrible towels Sunday and maybe Monday U can be fitted with a seven ring

Ron Artest wants out and what about Ted Williams and the NFL Films and things to look for on Superbowl Sunday along with where in the world is Chyna (Joanie Lauer)

To start Ron Artest has lost his mind again but this time he is not going to be give a fat check to the NBA but my be given up his last to win another title as rumor has it that he has had enough of Laker land and wants out which is crazy because he will not have another long term contract in his future and he will not be in an as good situation as he was in LA because the teams with Laker kind of talent will not want him on their team.

I heard Steve Sabol of NFL Films say that they looked into using Ted Williams (the homeless guy) but after looking into it he said that Ted Williams voice is good for short pieces but would not be good for the long pieces that NFL films would need and I heard this interview on Tim & sid:uncut from hardcore sports radio on the internet on the February 2 episode.

For the first time in a probably a long time there will be no cheerleaders @ the superbowl this Sunday night.

The NFLPA has bought a 30 second commercial spot which will be broadcast in the third quarter and it will be the start of the efforts to gain the fans support going into the off-season and it will talk about how they love the fans which will not come cheep as the spot will set them back 2 million dollars (US). I do not know if I will care for either side as it is hard for an owner to lose money on a NFL team as the TV revenue = the Salary Cap # and on the other hand you have the very highly paid few players who really could not care less about the league minimum player whose career is a lot shorter than the highly paid few who control the NFLPA.

Former WWE wresler Chyna (Joanie Lauer) is studying language classes @ night school @ UCLA so she can teach English as a second language to kids in Japan according to TMZ.com and at least she is trying to do something other than other than just hurting herself.

Steve Kouleas is back at tsn, Ti-Cats will be back in a rebuilt Ivory Winn Stadium and the new owner of the Sebres wants them back in the Stanley Cup Finals

Steve Kouleas is bring some real programming to TSN 2 every weekday as he is doing That's hockey 2nite which is TSN's attempt to go head to head with Sportsnet's hockey central tonight and it is also a caps off That's hockey with Gino Reda that goes on at the beginning of the night of hockey telling the kinds of stories that may happen in that nights hockey games. That's hockey 2nite will focus on the results of the majority of the games of the night as in like everything except the late games and Kouleas is no stranger to doing hockey talk as he was the hockey guy on the score for years and had a Saturday night gig on the score going through every game on a busy Saturday night in hockey. He was at the Score for 13 years and before that he had been working with TSN in the mid-90's so it is a homecoming and I believe if they put the kind of effort as they have around the Canadian Juniors TSN 2 will be taking some people away from the competition over at the hated sportsnet who to counteract the move have put a second edition of hockey central @ 1 AM to get the whole picture for the west coast. It should be interesting to see how this all works out as without a doubt in my mind Kouleas will be doing a hockey show during lunch time as the Fan as an edition of hockey central on at that time with TSN radio comes on the air in April.

The Hamilton Ti-Cats have come to arrangement with the city of Hamilton Ontario to rebuild their stadium in 2012 and will probably playing out of the Rogers Centre in Toronto Ontario or a stadium in-between Hamilton and Toronto for the year. It was a horrible time for Ti-Cats as they could not come to an agreement on building of a new stadium somewhere in the Hamilton area and I hope coming to an agreement finally keeps the Ti-Cats above the break even point or not lose as much money as they have been.

Buffalo Sabres have a brand new owner Terry Pegula who just sold his energy company East Resources Inc. for 4.7 billions and he has been a season ticket holder for the Sabres for years and his wife grow up in the Buffalo area. Terry Pegula hopefully turns around the franchise getting the team closer to the salary cap maximum and get back in the playoff picture and challenge for the eastern conference final in a few years maybe if they go out and get good high price talent unlike the Maple Leafs to go with young stars. It may be a starter for him as he may buy the Buffalo Bills when Ralph Wilson moves on at some point in it.

Have a good one (snow snow everywhere by morning)
