Pittsburgh Steelers a look back at the franchise history
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been known for the terrible towel for years and years and when you see someone waving yellow and black towel it is usually a Steelers towels and the Steelers even have their own theme song "black and yellow" by Wiz Khalifa.
To have the same group of people owing a team 77 years in Rooneys and do not mess with the running of the team and let the football people make the football decisions and it has worked out more often than not.
Pittsburgh Steelers have only had 3 coaches since 1969 (42 seasons) which are Chuck Noll (23 seasons), Bill Cowher (15 seasons), and Mike Tomlin (4 seasons) and Noll has 4 superbowl rings, Bill Cowher has a superbowl ring, and Mike Tomlin has a ring too going into this Super Sunday. They have 2 good quarterbacks in Terry Bradshaw (4 rings) and Big Ben (2 rings going into Sunday) and have great defensive players like Mean Joe Green, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, and Jack Lambert in the 70's while now you have Troy Polamalu, Bryant McFadden, James Harrison, and James Farrior. Then to have receivers like Lynn Swann and John Stallworth and now having a guy like Antwaan Randle El and then running backs like Franco Harris, Jerome Bettis, and now Rashard Mendenhall carry the mail keeping the other offense off the field. This is the mark of a great winning franchise that has won 6 rings in 7 appearances in the big game and even when they did not win the big game or were not in it they still were tough to beat in the playoffs in the 90's so almost every era of Steelers ball have been a winning one and it has always been lead by black and yellow D that turned the other team black and blue by the end of the game.
Rivals
When I hear about the NFL in the 70's two of the more famous teams of those days are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys who meet 3 times in the big game and the Steelers won all 3 meetings while also had huge playoff games against the Oakland Raiders and the winner was headed to the superbowl. Then the Steelers and Browns just saying those 2 names just sounds like a rivalry and then just the back and forth between the Steelers and Ravens over the last decade with those cut throat defenses and the low scoring bloody games that these two teams have are just incredible to see.
Steelers Fans lets see those terrible towels Sunday and maybe Monday U can be fitted with a seven ring
