The Eagles and Patriots have put themselves in position to be a contender for the Superbowl

The Eagles have signed Cullen Jenkins who had played the last 8 seasons as a five-technique end and three-technique tackle and had 7 sacks in 12 games last season and they are hoping he betters their 31 sacks the Eagles had last season and he will join Trent Cole and Jason Babin who are the pass rush studs in the front 3 as they will be a 34 defense. Jenkins signed a five year and 25 million dollars and because he missed 17 of the 48 games with the Packers over the last three seasons and if it does not work out the Eagles can cut bait after the first season for 4 million dollars and the three coverage studs are Nnamdi Asomugha (cb) as he signed a 5 year and 60 million dollars with 25 guaranteed, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has 13 interceptions and 4 returned for 6, and Asante Samuel so they will be strong rushing the passer or play straight up on third down.

The Patriots have taken a couple of risks with not so team oriented players and the biggest flyer they took was trading for Albert Haynesworth and the Patriots gave up a fifth round draft pick for the two time all-pro that now is a balloon and Bill Belichick has his challenges as Haynesworth has not been listen to his coaches and not interesting playing football the past two seasons after signing a 100 million dollar deal with the Redskins. So if Belichick can get the most out of Haynesworth it will be the most impressive achievement in his coaching career and if he gets back to his Titans days as he had 271 tackles and 24 sacks in his 90 games over his 6 seasons with the Titans they will be on their way to challenge for another superbowl appearance but if he is like his last two seasons in Washington with 53 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 20 games they will just cut him loose.

They also traded for Chad Ochocinco and gave up a fifth in next years and a sixth in the follow year who got a new three year deal and he had between 87 and 97 catches and he put up between 1274 and 1440 yards between 2003 and 2007 and he will be really hungry to win and be successful and have a chance to win a ring that he will try really hard to be on the same page with Tom Brady and they maybe better than Randy Moss and Tom Brady. I believe that Chad will have some of his more successful seasons with the Patriots than his seasons with the Bengals and this trade will be another one of those Patriots steals.

NFL is finally back and it is going to be a couple of whirlwind weeks ahead for all 32 teams

NFL owners and NFL player association have thankfully have come to an agreement and the lockout is finally over and it is a good thing because the NFL players had to much time on their hands and a lot of them have been charged for a number of different things. The best thing about the lockout this that the extended off-season has been squeezed into a couple of weeks starting tomorrow the teams start to decide of the players they want on their rosters like trading players or release them and starting on Friday the free agency frenzy will begin. The mid-August will be the beginning of the preseason games and the regular season will begin September 8 with superbowl XLIIII champion (Saints) Vs. superbowl XLV (Packers) and it is going to be interesting to how many stars will fall by the waste side as some players will come into the regular season a little out of shape and could get injured easier than most season.

Some of the free agency on the market

Running backs

1. DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) only played 6 games last season in an injury filled season with the Panthers and he has just less than 3,000 rushing yards and 434 yards receiving on 62 receptions and 28 touchdowns in his past 35 games and he may be looked at by Denver or Dolphins.

2. Ahmad Bradshaw in his first full season with the Giants and he had 1235 running yards and 314 receiving yards on 47 catches and the Dolphins and Giants going to be kicking the tires.

Receivers

Santonio Holmes with the Jets last season had 52 catches 12 games and the XLIII MVP against the Cardinals.
Sidney Rice is an athletic receiver who at age 25 years old has great upside but is coming off an injury filled season with the Vikings
Braylon Edwards showed in New York with the Jets that when he puts his mind on the game on the field and leaves all his problems behind him he can be an outstanding asset but at 28 is he able to stay focused on the task at hand meaning catching the ball.
Lance Moore coming out of the high power offense that is the Saints has 20 touchdowns and 159 catches in his past 39 games and could be a good slot receiver for however signs him.
Santana Moss the veteran receiver that adds leadership and can be that clutch receiver when needing to move the chains as he he moved them 61 times last season for the skins.

Defense

Chris Carr started every game last season for the Ravens and had 61 total tackles with 54 solo tackles and 3 forced fumble and 2 interceptions @ corner back
Ike Taylor has played all 64 regular season games for the Steelers and has 273 total tackles and 224 solo tackles and 6 interceptions
Paul Posluszny has played 45 games for the Bills over last 4 seasons and has 398 total tackles and 295 solo tackles and 3 sacks and 4 interceptions and last season 151 total tackles and 103 solo tackles as an inside linebacker

Quarterbacks

Matt Hasselbeck had a great post-season and will be a good mentor for a future quarterback and be a back-up quarterback

Great having the NFL back

an idiot goes over the railing during the home run derby

So last night during the homer run derby Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers hit a ball almost into the outfield seats in the second round of the competition and Keith Carmickle went after the ball and end up almost falling to his death except that his brother and friends held onto him and pulled him back over the railing. The guy a complete idiot because he was standing a narrow table in front of the front row seats that let me just guess were there so the fans can put their food on it which is nice especially as I go to the Rogers centre and U can either put it on the floor or put on the little slab of cement if your in the front row that is until the usher comes down and asks U to move it.

The thing about this is that it comes four days after a Texas firefighter Shannon Stone fell over a rail at the Rangers game on Thursday night when he had asked Josh Hamilton for a foul ball for his son so the next opportunity he had Hamilton throw the ball towards Stone and in his attempt to catch it got to close to the railing and went over and fell 20 feet to his death.

So now Major League Baseball will be putting most likely some safety nets up to protect the fans but it will make it a lot harder to get a ball at a game which is pretty hard to do already and in Arizona I am pretty sure that those nice tables will be gone almost immediately and sadly it is because of a goof who had too much drink and had no sense for his own safety and his family and friends could not get him to stop most likely.

In the case of Shannon Stone it was just the wrong place at the wrong time his heart was in the right place and Josh Hamilton's heart as well was in the right place and it was extremely sad and should not have happened. This is just like when the little girl was killed in Columbus at a Blue Jackets game and made it necessary for the NHL to put up fish netting to catch a lot of the pucks that would be heading into the stands as souvenirs the baseball teams will do the same and really that all they can do because they do have announcements before the game to keep an eye on the game as the balls come fast into the stands.

Its a sad day in baseball

The NFL players are little babies and do not have any sense of reality and the money they have made is completely the opposite of how they grow up so they think they are like above the law now or just do not care about authority figures.
