Canucks rolling into the pressure cooker, The Canadiens are heading to the playoffs but how far, the Leafs need to spend money wisely, and much more

The Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have been 46-9-7 since staring the season 5-8-2 in the first 15 games and Daniel Sundin looks like he is posed to match his brother's Henrik's league MVP last season with his 40 goals - 56 assists - 96 points while Roberto Luongo has been on his game after a sluggish start to the season with a league leading 35 wins along with a solid 2.18 GAA and 927 save %. The Canucks will be going into the playoffs on a real roll being almost unbeatable even Cory Schinder has been solid in he net and the Canucks will have home ice advantage as long as they are in the playoffs and there is the question of the year with the lower seeds in the Western Conference getting on a huge roll like Nashville who are 8-2 in their last 10 games and the Anaheim Ducks along with that dreaded Chicago Black hawks rearing its Canuck killing head. So the pressure begins April 13Th when the NHL playoffs begins and those collars on the Canucks jerseys will get tighter.

Montreal Canadiens

It was an amazing start to the season for Carey Price and the Canadiens but the white elephant in the room is still there and that is who will can put the bisect in the basket because Carey Price continues surprise me especially as I felt he would be the sore spot for the team and instead he has been the stainless steel and will single handedly guide the Canadiens into the playoffs even if they can't score a goal as they have been shutout 3 times in a week. Also don't look now but those Boston Bruins may be waiting for them in the first round or the second round and these two teams are on the best of terms right now as they have had a 14 goal fight fest and then people asked what would happen the next time they meet and the answer was Chara sending Max P. into a partition which got Habs fans phoning the police on Chara and then the question was asked what would happen the next time and that was just a 7-0 Bruins shutout.

Toronto Maple Leafs

the thing about the Leafs and not making the playoffs (to be honest there is no way the Leafs are making the playoffs) is the question when should James Reimers have started playing for the Leafs on consistent basis as he was sitting on the bench while Jonas Gustavsson started a number of games while J.S. got hurt. Then when J.S. came back Reimer was sent back to the AHL so J.S. could get a lot of starts to get in a grove to be traded for a pick but got an injury again and was Reimer was brought back up and if he had an extra 10 games in his season the Leafs would of easily made the playoffs. So James Reimer is a Restricted Free Agent and it is going to be interesting to see what kind of cap hit will he be and what is the length of the term and being a sophomore next season will he take a step back or stay at the level he is at right now and also Luke Schenn is also a Restricted Free Agent in the off-season and will get a good increase in his pay. Also Ron Wilson needs to not have to say "are star players did not play like star players and thats why we lost" because like Kessel and Phaneuf need to be the players they are being paid to be while the Leafs need to keep Clarke MacArthur who is also a Restricted Free Agent but will get less than Schenn and around Reimer money which I think will be in the 2 to 3 Million range. The Leafs will have lots of money in the off-season and will need to find a top line player to go with Kessel and the name that has been coming up has been Brad Richards who has been consistently good with at least 20 goals and 60-70 points a season and is a setter-up player which Kessel might need just like Matt Sundin needed somebody for a long time to help him and the only thing is at what price because if you get up in the 6 and 7 mil range the Leafs need to step away from the table.

Calgary Flames

Flames fans don't blame Getzlaf for hiding the puck in the Ducks 4-2 victory over the Flames as you might want to look at the Flames roster first which is the second oldest roster in the NHL like Jarome Iginla started the season with 8 points in the first 15 games and Miikka Kiprusoff 10-14-1 in his first 25 starts this season. The Calgary Flames have little to nothing in the farm system and they may take a last gasped effort next season before blowing the whole thing completely up and starting from scratch like the Oilers have been and if they can get something for Kiprusoff and Iginla in a trade they should look long and hard at making the deal to better the team in the long run. The Flames worked hard for a long time to get back into the playoff picture and then ran out of gas with a 2 and 7 record in their last 9 games and was a diffidently death nail to the playoff chase.

Ottawa Senators

The big question that Senators fans asked themselves is realistically when was the earliest they could have made the Elliot/Anderson trade happen and I believe that the trade could of been done the earliest around the 30 to 40 game point for both the Avalanche (with Anderson having such a great season last year but he fell on his face as an Avalanche and the team went in the same direction) and the Senators (who have been looking for a goaltender ever since Ray Emery lost his mind). Daniel Alfredsson career is coming to a end within the next couple of seasons and it looks like he will end up retiring as a Senator while players like Jason Spezza is often injured while the other skaters have not lived up to the team's expectation or like Sergei Gonchar and Alex Kovalev who have been complete busts.

Edmonton Oilers

Oilers look like they will be getting the first-overall pick again this season and will get another young star to with the likes of Taylor Hall (no more fights for Hall), Sam Gagner, Jordan Elerle, and more young up and coming stars. The thing the Oilers are lacking is a stand on your head goalie like Ilya Bryzgalov who is an unrestricted free agent but I do not know what the cap future is looking like for this team because Ilya Bryzgalov will be looking for huge bucks (in the 6 million range) but if there is anyway to get him under the cap for the next 3 or 4 seasons it would be a great investment and improve the team by leaps and bounds.

Cam Newton's pro weekly evaluation going into the NFL Draft

Cam Newton got ripped by Nolan Nawrocki who said about Newton "Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness -- is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable" and even though the wording is a little bit harsh and Nawrocki could of used better words to get his point across and it looks like a honest review. So it sounds like Newton had rubbed Nawrocki the wrong way and probably was late for something with Nawrocki and that Nawrocki has information of Newton during his Auburn days and he also said that Newton always knows where the cameras are and play to them.

This put altogether might mean that NFL teams might need to take a step back and look at Newton before drafting him as he maybe more interested about things outside of the stadium like partying, girls, and doing movies along with TV appearances than making himself into a superstar NFL quarterback like Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, and Matt Ryan. Which would mean that he would have to work hard to better himself during practice to get the job done during games so he does not turn into the next Matt Leinart who was overwhelmed by NFL defenses and this might of been because it was a rumor that having Leinart as a roommate it was like just rooming with his suitcase as he was partying all night long on the road.

In the end what would of happened if an evaluation like this was done to Ryan Leaf before the NFL draft in 1998 he was the second overall draft pick and if it would of changed the Chargers mind of instead of going after Leaf and trading Eric Metcalf, two first round draft pick, and a second round draft pick to move from 4th to the 2Nd draft pick in the 1998 draft.

Kurt Angle arrested in Grand Forks, North Dakota

In an effort to help prove that the WWE wellness policy another TNA is in trouble with the law and it should be noted that TNA has no interest in protecting their talent from themselves as they do not have any thing to monitor their talent like the WWE's wellness policy.

So after we had so much tracking Jeff Hardy and the idea of did he or did he not get arrested at the Victory road PPV comes the story of another one of their top stars in Kurt Angle being legitimately arrested as it was documented by those wonderful people at TMZ as he was caught behind the wheel of an non-moving car when the police came knocking in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Which would been fine except that he smelt of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody and charged with being control of vehicle while under the influence and this comes after a DUI arrest in September, 2007 but was cleared of all charges. The story gets a little twisted when Kurt told police why he had swerved off the road due to ice and that a good reason for that and also he stated that he was the one who called the police but Highway Patrol captain Kevin Robson said that a passer-by phoned them along with stating the road was dry and that Angle later claimed he had received a text message which had distracted him. That does make cents as he is separated from his wife who has their children and Kurt was to face his ex-wife's new husband this past weekend in Jeff Jarrett at a couple of house shows which is not really clear if he wrestled or not. Also Kurt is remarried to Giovanna Yannotti and have a child of their own in Giuliana Marie Angle who was born on January 11,2011. Kurt Angle's run ins with problems in and outside of the ring is far from over as he has admitted to being addicted to pain killers and was released by WWE because of falling a wellness policy most likely because of pain killers and then while with TNA he has been arrested for incidences involving his former girlfriend Rhaka Khan (known as Awesome Kahn in TNA at the time) with rumors of stalking and violence towards Rhaka Khan.

Your in trouble, your in trouble TNA and Kurt Angle

NCAA March Madness - What a weekend for the Virginia Commonwealth Rams and for coach Shaka Smar

Virginia Commonwealth is heading to the final four a team that had to win 5 games to just get into the tournament and having already taken down NCAA power house George Town without mercy 74-56 and then runs into #3 seed Purdue with the same no mercy 94-76.

Then they meet up with #10 seed in Florida State on Friday night and had a lead 63-57 with 6:33 left in the game when Jamie Skeen hit the first of two free throws but then had to hold on for dear live as Florida State had a 8-2 run to end the game which was tied by Chris Singleton who hit a 3-ball with 44 seconds left in the game to tie it @ 65 and was lucky that Derwin Kitchen missed a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer sending the game to overtime. Then in overtime where Bradford Burgess got a defensive board and followed it up the a 3-ball to give Virginia Commonwealth a 1 point lead and when Brandon Rozzell hit both of his free throws to make it 70-67 but then when Chris Singleton slammed the ball down for Florida State it gave Florida State a 1 point lead @ 71-70 with 28 seconds left. Then with Virgina Commonwealth having the chance for last shoot when Bradford Burgess was set up by Joey Rodriguez for a lay up with 7 seconds left and Florida State had no answer as Virginia Commonwealth won 72-71.

Then today they faced their second #1 seed in Kansas and the Kansas Jay Hawks were on fire to start the game and it took the Virgina Commonwealth Rams while to warm up as the Jay Hawks had a 6-0 lead to start the game but then the Rams outscored the Jay Hawks 41-21 in the last 17:26 in the first half. After the Rams scored the first bucket of the second half the Jay Hawks scored the next 12 points going 5 of 6 from the floor and 2 of 4 from the line to make it 43-39 Rams and got as close as 46-44 but the Rams went on a 11-3 run to regain a 10 point lead @ 57-47 and never looked back as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams are heading to Houston, Texas for the final 4 against the March Madness finalists in Butler Bulldogs with a 71-61 win.

Virginia Commonwealth Rams's head coach is Shaka Smart who is the youngest head coach in the NCAA basketball @ age 33 who is the most high energy head coach in the Madness this year as he is up and moving up and down the sidelines waiving his hand in encouragement and even got a technical foul for running on to the court during live play as the Jay Hawks were making their huge run to get back into the game. He also lead the celebration at the end of the game with his players and is like so few coaches with his unabashed enthusiasm in sports but don't get me wrong as this approach would not work for most coaches either. He has become a celebrity with the sweet-16 and the elite-8 appearances but his celebrity status will be going to a whole other level during this week leading into the final four Saturday and with Virgina Commonwealth being such a small school on the NCAA scale I really do not know if Shaka Smart will jump at the first bigger bucks opportunity or if he will wait for the right opportunity but the offers will come from every direction this spring and summer and will likely jump somewhere else at some point.

Lets see how the Rams do against the Bulldogs on staurday

NCAA March Madess - Defending Champs bounced by Arizona, Connecticut's Kemba Walker puts on a show, and glass slipper still fits Butler

Connecticut Vs San Diego State

So the UCon had a 36-27 halftime lead and San Diego State came out and outscored the Huskies 18-8 in the first 7:36 of the second half to take a 45-44 and while they were up 2 points 51-49 the Huskies throw the ball in and Jamaal Franklin intercepts the and got it to Billy White who slammed it home to make it 53-49. Then the Huskies called a timeout but heading into the timeout Jamaal Franklin who was hugely excited bumped Kemba Walker and Kemba Walker went down hard selling the foul so he ends up getting an opportunity to shot 2 free throws for Huskies and he hit both and the foul energized him because when the score was 54-53 for the Aztecs Walker scored 7 unanswered points to give the Huskies a 60-54 lead and it was apart of 12 straight huskies points he scored and he outscored the Aztecs 12-2 so the Huskies had a 65-56 lead. Then the Aztecs were by D.J.Gay with 2 3-balls as they scored 8 unanswered points to make it 65-64 but the Huskies Jeremy Lamb scored a 23 foot 3-ball and then came back and hit 6 foot jumper to give the Huskies a 70-64 lead and they won 74-67. The Huskies were led by Jeremy Lamb (24 points) and Kemba Walker (36 points) who had 83.3% of the Huskies points (60 of 72 Huskies points) while Alex Oriakhi had 9 boards and Shabazz Napier had 6 assists for the Huskies. The Aztecs were led by D.J. Gay who had 16 points and 4 boards, Malcolm Thomas who had 13 points along with 8 boards and 3 assists while Kawhi Leonard had 12 points and 9 boards along with 4 assists.

Duke Vs Arizona

The defending champs Duke were looking good @ halftime with a 44-38 lead but they forgot there was a second half to be played and Arizona definitely did not as they outscored Duke 55-33 in the second half as they had a huge run 24-6 in 7 minutes of game time to take a 53-49 Duke lead and turn it on its head and give Arizona a 71-59 lead and 13-6 run near the end of the game put the final nail in the defending champs to make it 90-72 as Arizona won the game 93-77 and coach K will have to wait to next season to pass Bob Knight for the coach with most wins. Derrick Williams put on another show for the home crowd as he had 32 points and 13 boards in the game along with Lamont Jones who had 16 points and 6 assists for Arizona while Duke was led by
Kyrie Irving who had 28 points and Kyle Singler who had 18 points and 8 boards.

BYU Vs Florida

This is a rematch of a first round match up that BYU in double overtime 99-92 so it came down to the end of regulation in this sweet-sixteen match up and when Kyle Collinsworth hit his first free throw it was tied @ 68 with 44 seconds left and with Chandler Parsons missing a 9 footer at the end of regulation it was heading to overtime. The difference between this overtime and last year's overtime is that Florida came out in overtime and shoot the lights out as they were 5 of 7 from the floor and outscored BYU 15-6 in the first overtime and sent the most talked about team in the tournament packing 83-74. Alex Tyus was all over the place for Florida as he had 19 points and 17 boards (out rebounded BYU 17-15) while Jimmer Fredette for BYU had 32 points in the game with 5 assists too while Noah Hartsock led with 8 boards in the losing effort.

Butler Vs Wisconsin

The Butler Bulldogs had a 33-24 lead @ halftime and just came out in the second half and scored the first 9 points of the quarter to make it 42-24 and the Wisconsin Badgers fought back but a little late as the Bulldogs keep the glass slippers on as they had back to the elite 8 for the second year in a row. The Badgers did have a 20-7 run late in the game to draw within 4 @ 56-52 but that would be as close as it got as the Bulldogs headed to the line and hit some and missed some but the Badgers were unable to hit the big shot to get it to an one possession game as the Bulldogs won 61-54. Matt Howard of the Bulldogs made the basketball court his yard as he had 20 points and 13 boards in the game while Jordan Taylor was on an Island all by himself for Badgers as he had 22 of the Badgers 54 points in the game as the next highest scorer was Keaton Nankivit with 9 points but Jon Leuer really struggled with a 1 for 12 from the floor with a 3-ball being his only scoring in the game.

4 more games tomorrow

TSN screwed Canadian viewers as they botched March madness as the Score was much better

This was the first year that TSN has been the Canadian broadcaster for March Madness and they decided to stay with the CBS game from beginning to end and basically you did not hear about the other game going on at the same time especially when there was 32 games throughout the day or when there was 16 games a day. Also unlike the US CBS feed the alternative CBS feed where there was no scoreboard at the top of the screen where they had live updated scores which would keep the viewers up to date about the other games being played at that time. The only problem for the TSN about this scoreboard is that the channel the game was on in the US like Tru TV, TBS, and TNT which Canadian viewers do not get these channels and TSN2 usually had the game that Tru TV had and would only cut into other games at the last moment without any build up before going to the game.

Then when you look at how they dealt with coming back from a commercial break just staying with the CBS feed and only going to the studio for a couple of minutes to get a review of the game that your watching and then go straight to a game in progress until the game that you had been watching comes back from halftime. It was like they were not really in the studio as they were off camera for over a half at a time which just left a empty feeling in my body as I would of like them to do more cut ins and give us the insight and analysis that they are paid the big bucks to do so. Then came Sunday afternoon where TSN2 decided to broadcast the events that took place in the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers and TSN decided to broadcast in Nascar race and we did not have any Canadian broadcaster for the first game of the day which was Washington Vs North Carolina which had the questionable running of the clock after the ball went out of bounds and Washington had .5 second instead of 1.1 or 1.2 second. When they finished the hockey TSN went to the studio where the basketball guys talked about the Washington and North Carolina game and did not talk about what happened to the clock like it was non-factor in the outcome of the game which is simply bogus.

I think my feelings towards TSN and their broadcasting efforts is because I have been spoiled by the March Madness action and production of past years which was being broadcasted by the Score TV network where their basketball analyst Tim Micallef in the studio and he is on air when the game use have been watching goes to commercial he is telling the viewers what is happening in the game. More importantly telling us what is happening in other matches and go to another game and when a close game comes back from commercial break and Tim Micallef gives the viewers a good outlook on every game that is being played at the time and when the action is slow Tim Micallef will quickly review a big game that has been played that day and use video to get the point across.

The only benefit of TSN and TSN2 broadcasting the games is that they were able to do in-depth stories on Canadians playing in the tournament like Cory Joesph and Tristan Thompson where they talked to them, then a sit down with their dads, and then a sit down with their moms and put it altogether in a in-depth story on the two Canadians on the Texas basketball team. In the end here is the thing they diffidently could of still done this segment and segments on other Canadians in the tournament without being the broadcaster of the tournament because they still have their sports news program called SportsCentre where they can do these kind of stories.

Please let Tim Micallef be apart of the NCAA March Madness programing again please

Matt Cooke has been suspended for the reminder of the regular season and the first round of the Stanly cup playoffs

Matt Cooke is a hockey player who has lost his mind on numerous occasions and has been suspended 5 times in his NHL career and is the guy responsible for Marc Savard hockey career to practically ending his career as Cooke hit Savard in the head and ever since this time he has been dealing with a concession and has not been able to play too many games since this hit. Sadly Matt Cooke was not suspended for this hit but he has now been suspended twice in the 2010-2011 NHL regular season as February 9Th, 2011 was the first suspension of the season was Matt Cooke tried to put Fedor Tyutin of Columbus Blue Jackets through the boards as he got a head of steam and left his feet at the second to hit Fedor Tyutin from behind and he got 4 games for the charge and it had been days after Cooke had tried to take out Alexander Ovechkin's knee.

So on US TV yesterday (NBC) there was a hockey game going up against the first Mach Madness of the day and it was the Pittsburgh Penguins against the New York Rangers and the top story of the game should of been that the Rangers man handled the Penguins 5-2 but it was not. Instead it was Matt Cooke in the headlines again when he elbowed Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh in the head. He got suspended for the final 10 games of the regular season which will prevent him from collecting the last $250,000 of his 2 million dollar salary for this season and instead that money will be put into a pot for former hockey players down on their luck. He will also not be able to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the playoff which does not really matter because his supposed effectiveness on the ice getting under the opposing team's player's skin would be more of a hazard then a benefit for the Penguins and will not lose his playoff money even if the Penguins are knocked out in the first round because the players decide on who receives the playoff bonus and if you play most games there is no way you will not receive the money.

But there is of course a subplot in this and that is the owner of the Penguins Mario Lemieux who came out publicly against head hits and this is because the Penguin Captain Sidney Crosby has been out since practically since the first of the year with a concession and maybe part of the punishment is the NHL taking a swat at Mario. So the thing is going to be if and how the Penguins will get rid of Matt Cooke during the off-season because they are still on the hook for Cooke's salary for next two seasons.

Looking at the Discipling of Matt Cooke and looking at the idea that the league is making a statement towards getting tough on hits to the head so looking at Matt Cooke it is very easy to give him a long suspension and really if they wanted to set a bar it could of only been to exile him from the NHL which did not happen. So I am going to wait for to see what happens to the next player that hits someone in the head and if they get the book thrown at them then I think people will take the punishment seriously and may curve the act of head hits but if the next player gets a slap on the wrist like having a phone interview (less than 5 game suspension) instead of a in person interview (more than 5 game suspension) would put everything at the start again. Which would put in Jeopardy the seriousness of the NHL cracking down on head shots so lets hope the next player gets the same kind of treatment that Matt Cooke just received.

Come on NHL do the right thing and get head shots out of the game immediately

NCAA March Madness - Contravery of Washington Vs North Carolina, Coach K wins his 900th game, and Ohio State saw Gus Johnson and then destroyed George Mason

contravery at the end of the Washington Vs North Carolina game

It started when Venoy Overton for Washington throw up the ball from with 2 seconds left in the game which did not make the basket and John Henson of North Carolina was unable to hold on to the ball under the basket before it out of bounds. This is were the contravery lies the clock stopped with .5 second left in the game but on replay it clearly showed the ball landed out of bounds with between 1.1 and 1.2 second left which would of given Washington Huskies .6 or .7 second more on the clock to try to hit the tying 3 ball. We do not know if the ref would have put .6 or .7 second back on the clock because the ref did not take a look at the replay to see if the clock was correct which is completely amazing to me because in these kind of situations the ref always looks at the replay even on clear decisions at least for quick second so that they made the correct call. Like how many times have you seen a game winning goal in NHL playoffs reviewed or the last play of a NFL game review to make sure that the play was correctly so the only thing I can think of is that with all the noise in the arena as it was like a North Carolina home game that they were unable to think because it was to noisy. Another question was the head of the NCAA basketball officials as he must of been watching and should of been able to phone down to official scoring table and had it looked at. So the end result is that the Huskies had half the time to get a 3 ball and in the scramble at the end of the game the ball in Isaiah Thomas Jr (yes the former Detroit piston's son) and he heaved up the ball that was not going to reach the rim and if it had been strong enough to reach the rim North Carolina would of been call for goaltending as a Tar Heel player caught the ball before it was able to reach the rim but in the end it would of not mattered because Isaiah Thomas Jr toe was on the 3 point line so they would of still lost by 1 point.

Coach K wins his 900Th win in his coaching career

Coach K won his 900Th game as a head coach in NCAA basketball which is the 2 behind Bob Knight which means if Coach K gets his Blue Devils to the final 4 in this season's March Madness he will be tied and if they get to the Championship game he will become the coach with the most wins in NCAA Basketball history. It looked like it was going to be a easy victory for the Tar Heels as they were up 58-43 with 10:51 left in the game but like most NCAA March Madness games it usually not over until the scoreboard hits triple zero as the three headed Huskies of Tim Hardaway Jr (yes son of that Tim Hardaway), Jordan Morgan, and Darius Morris as they had a 28-15 run to end the game and had the ball at the end of the game to tie or win the game but instead Coach K's Blue Devils won to give him that 900Th NCAA Basketball division 1 win.

Ohio State saw Gus Johnson and remembered what that means

George Mason came out on fire as they took a 11-2 run to open the game @ the 16:23 point of the first half but then Ohio State players looked over at the CBS desk where they saw Gus Johnson sitting calling the game and they remembered that Gus Johnson only does the real exciting games i.e. the No. 1 overall seed being taken down by the 8 seed George Mason and decided to not let this happen. So they came alive and outscored George Mason 50-15 in the last 16:23 of the first half and they continued putting the pedal to the metal in the second half as they outscored George Mason 46-40 in the second half so that the factor of Gus Johnson announcing the game and him usually calling the craziest games was an non-factor

Pittsburgh is the first #1 seed out of the March Madness along with much more

Butler Vs Pittsburgh

Butler came out of the gate with the idea win by the 3-ball or lose by the 3-ball so to start the game they throw up a lot of 3-balls and most of them hit and gave them a 30-18 lead and had made 6 3-balls with 5:32 left in the first half and had to hold on to lead 38-30 @ half as they hit another 3-ball to end the half. A couple of minutes into the second half Pittsburgh got 9 straight points to tie the game @ 41 and then it was a back and forth battle to the end of the game and it all went crazy starting with pitt up 69-68 and not getting a shot off and turning over the ball because of a time count violation which gave the ball to Butler with 7 seconds left and Andrew Smith slipped through the paint with ease to give Butler a 70-69 lead with 1.9 second left. You would think that it is impossible for Pitt to get the ball down the floor and get a shot off in 1.9 seconds but the ball was thrown down the court where Gilbert Brown caught it and throw it up it did not go in but he was fouled by Shelvin Mack and got 2 shots and he made the first one to tie it up @ 70 and then missed the second one. So you would think we are going to overtime but wait Matt Howard got the rebound and he was fouled (why any Pitt player went after the ball I do not know but Nasir Robinson did) and he hit the first to take the lead and missed the second to end the game. Butler was led by Shelvin Mack (so he did deserve a mistake) as he had 30 points, 3 assists, 2 boards, and a steal while Matt Howard had 16 points, 6 boards along with an assist and block and Pittsburgh were led Gilbert Brown had 24 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists along with Nasir Robinson had 16 points, 2 boards, and a massive foul while Brad Wanamaker had 7 assists and 7 boards in the game.

Kansas State Vs Wisconsin

So Jacob Pullen of K-State is fouled from 3 point land and he is shooting so he get not 1 shot, not 2 shots, but 3 shots and K-State is 3 points down @ 66-63 with 10 seconds left in the second half so he makes the first so K-State is now down by 2 and he misses the second shot so still down 2 may want to miss the third so they can get the rebound and tie the game but he makes the third. So now down 1 so Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor is fouled goes to the line and makes both free throws to make it a 3 point lead again so K-State sets up a plan to get the game tying 3 ball so it ends up in Jacob Pullen's hand's again so he shoots it and it gets immediately blocked not a tip of the ball but the whole thing so Wisconsin after a couple of made free throws walk off the court with a 70-65 win and move on to the sweet-sixteen. Wisconsin was lead by Jon Leuer with 19 points and 7 boards (4 offensive) while Jordan Taylor had 12 points, 6 assists, and 4 boards along with Josh Gasser (7 boards and 2 steals) and Mike Bruesewitz (6 boards) who both had 11 points. K-State was led by Jacob Pullen who had 38 points with 6 for 8 from the line (real bad timing) and 6 for 8 from 3 (just did not set-up perfectly on his last) to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists so a great game but no support as Chris Kelly was next with 11 points was next in scoring but he did have 9 boards in the game.

Cincinnati Vs Connecticut

Cincinnati got in front quickly with a 17-9 but Connecticut said we have done this too many times as they closed out the first half of a 27-11 run to lead 36-28 and Cincinnati came out hot early again with the first 6 points of the half to make it 36-34 and then they traded buckets for a while till it was 53-50 Connecticut and then they went on a 6-2 run to open a 9 point lead and it was finally over as the more experienced program in Connecticut won 67-58. They were led by Kemba Walker who had 33 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists while Alex Oriakhi had 10 boards to help the cause while Cincinnati had Rashad Bishop with 20 points and Yancy Gates who had 11 points along with 7 boards.

Morehead State Vs Richmond

This Cinderella ball started with the front court of Richmond going to work down low as they out scored Morehead State bigs 17-6 in the first half and took a sizable lead of 9 @ 30-21 led by Justin Harper who had 9 points and 2 boards while Dan Geriot had 6 points and 4 boards and Morehead State was led by Ty Proffitt and Kenneth Faried (5 boards) both had 6 points while Demonte Harper had 7 boards in the first half. Richmond got a little scar when Sam Goodman of Morehead State was hyped up and had just 2 free throws to make it 45-39 but 6 straight points by Richmond gave them a 12 point lead and they danced all the way into the sweet-sixteen as they won 65-48. The Richmond Spiders were led by Justin Harper with 19 points, 6 boards, and 2 assists while Kevin Anderson had 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 boards and Dan Geriot with 13 points and 7 boards. The Morehead State Eagles were lead by Kenneth Faried with 11 points and 13 boards (7 offensive) along with Sam Goodman with 11 points, 5 boards, and 2 assists while Demonte Harper had a 11 boards (2 offensive) and 4 assists to go with his 4 points.

Temple Vs San Diego State

San Diego after Temple's Lavoy Allen hit 2 free throws to take a 16-14 lead went on a 20-7 run to open up a 11 point lead @ 34-23 but Temple ended up getting the last 6 points in the half to make it a 5 point game @ 36-31. San Diego State were led by D.J. Gay with 9 points, 2 assists, and 3 boards, and Malcolm Thomas with 8 points and 3 boards while Temple was lead by Ramone Moore who had 10 points and Lavoy Allen who had 8 points and 6 boards in the first half. The Second half was wild which hit the fan just after Chase Tapley hit his second 3-ball in as many San Diego State possessions to give them a 50-43 lead but then they went as cold as ice in the last 10:14 of the game as they made only 2 buckets and only one in the last 7:11 of regulation. Temple just chipped away at the 7 point lead and when Lavoy Allen makes a jumper with 48 seconds left the game was tied at 54 but when San Diego State gets an offensive rebound with 25 seconds left they have last shot so with the clock whining down Chase Tapley with the ball in his hand drives towards the basket and slips and misses the shot. Then we are going to overtime and with the game tied at 61 Billy White gets a defensive rebound for San Diego State and had last shot again this time with 33 seconds on the clock so this time it is Malcolm Thomas with the ball as the clock whines down again and he takes a 13 foot jumpers that does not fall. So we are going to double overtime when Billy White gets a tip in to put San Diego State up 4 @ 65-61 with 2:43 left gave them the lead they needed to win the game 71-64 as Temple fought extremely hard to stay with San Diego State. San Diego State was led by Billy White (13 boards) and Kawhi Leonard (9 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals) who both had 16 points while Malcolm Thomas had 13 points, 4 blocks, 9 boards, and 3 assists. Temple was led by Ramone Moore who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists while Khalif Wyatt (2 boards, 4 boards, and 2 steals) and Juan Fernandez who had 14 points each along with Rahlir Jefferson who had 12 boards in the game.

Gonzaga Vs BYU

the Gonzaga bubble burst in the second half as they completely collapsed and lost by 22 points with the final score being 89-67 with BYU getting a 11-2 run @ the beginning of the second have to take their 7 point halftime lead into a 16 point lead and Gonzaga did try one comeback as they made a 11-4 run to make it 61-51 but BYU ended the game with a 28-16 run. BYU run in the madness was led by Jimmer Fredette who had 34 points, 6 assists, and 2 boards while Jackson Emery had 16 points, 3 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Gonzaga run end but Elias Harris (8 boards) and Steven Gray (7 assists and 3 boards) had 18 points while Robert Sacre had 17 points, 7 boards, and 4 blocks.

UCLA Vs Florida

It was a real tough battle where nobody got more than a 4 point lead in the first half where Florida had a 35-33 lead going into the second half but UCLA was all over the glass with a 20-11 advantage in the half and their offense with a # of offensive boards leading to second chance points. In then second half Florida and rebounded UCLA 21-17 in the second half but a huge block from Tyler Honeycutt had a Florida lay-up bouncing the ball off the glass to block the shot and then later Joshua Smith had his shot blocked by Erik Murphy who then goes down on offense and hits a 3-ball to give Florida the first 6 point lead of the game at 61-55. UCLA was never able to get it back to even after these huge plays by Erik Murphy and Florida ended up winning 73-65 as Florida scored the last 7 points of the game and a 3-ball from Erving Walker on a second chance possession made it 69-65. Florida was led by Erving Walker who had 21 points, Alex Tyus had 13 boards to with his 8 points, and Kenny Boynton had 12 points and 5 assists while UCLA was led by Joshua Smith (6 boards with 5 offensive) and Reeves Nelson (11 boards with 3 offensive) who both had 16 points, and Tyler Honeycutt who had 4 blocked shots in the game.

West Virgina Vs Kentucky

It was a game of runs starting @ 12-12 when Wildcats went on a 14-7 run to get out ahead the Mountaineers but the Mountaineers went on a 22-7 run to end the half including the last 8 points of the first half to take a 41-33 halftime lead. The Mountaineers were led by Joe Mazzulla with 16 points and 4 assists while the Wildcats were lead by Brandon Knight 15 points and an assist in the first half.

To start the second half the Wildcats flexed their muscle and as they scored the first 11 points of the second to take a 44-41 lead and the mountaineers could not make a shot as it took more than 6 minutes to score their first points of the second half. When the Mountaineers found their shoot with went on a 14-7 run open a 4 point lead @ 55-51 but the Wildcats muscle was too much for them as they kept the ball alive on the offensive end with rebounds and ended the Mountaineers on defense with rebounds as they scored 9 straight points to open a 5 point lead @ 60-55. Then while the Mountaineers were struggling with their shot still it was time for the Wildcats to show their free throw skill as they closed out the game 71-63 and the Wildcats where led by Brandon Knight who had another 15 points in the second half with another assist and ended with 30 points, 3 boards, and 4 assists while Terrence Jones had 10 boards along with Josh Harrellson who had 15 points and 8 boards in the game. The Mountaineers were led by Joe Mazzulla who had 20 points (4 in the second half), 3 boards, and 4 assists (3 in the second half) while Darryl Bryant had 15 points (4 in the second half) and 3 boards along with Kevin Jones who had 9 boards but the Mountaineers were outscored 38-22 in the second half and got out rebounded 34-29 in the game.

Jeff Hardy court case is moved back by the district attorney and his upcoming TNA schedule

Jeff Hardy was in court again today and once again he was granted a continuance as the district attorney is still waiting for evidence to come back from bureau of investigation which stems from a raid of his house after unanimous tip. They only found a pharmacy in the house as they found 262 doses of Vicodin prescription painkillers, 180 Soma prescription pills, 55 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

It looks like Hardy is in hiding as their no new idea of what he is doing right now and it has never confirmed that he left Victory Road in handcuffs but it is reported that he left out the back door after the event was over which means that some fans at the Pay-Per-View were having fun with us. I do not know if him being in hiding is a good idea for an addict because that is the most likely situation that they would shoot up and it does not look like he has a very good support because I don't about his wife but they have been together a long time were he has been through all these problems going back quite a few years especially with TNA as he has been a no show quite a few times for a taping or Pay-Per-View event. Matt is no help just look up Matt Hardy on YouTube because he has some extremely weird video where he is under the influence of drugs so he will not be able to stop him and just think would he not be backstage all day so when TNA management was worried of Jeff state of mind throughout the day would it not be a good brother that would make sure Jeff did not go out there and get him out of the arena before the lights went on. Also with a double count in the #1 contender match between Mr. Anderson Vs Rob Van Dam and having it continued on this week impact (a real disappointment) so why not just have a triple threat match between Sting Vs Mr Anderson Vs Rob Van Dam for the tittle which diffidently a better match than the 88 second match. Go back to Matt Hardy he recently twitted "that Jeff is fine and that he is diffidently fine" but he also twiited this back in 2009 when the raid of Jeff's house happened so I do know what anyone can take from this really.

Jeff has been pulled off the road as his match against A.J. Styles which was to headline this weekends house shows which looks like it may also be taken A.J. off the road as he now does not have a match for the house shows. He certainly can be added to a current match for the home show or just wrestle Matt Morgan or Rob Terry or a triple threat match (not a good match but I am just thinking). Hardy was not at Impact taping so it looks like he off the active roster until he gets straightened out which could be next tapings sessions for a wrestling company who has no wellness policy to speak of.

Most likely TNA and Hardy lawyer are still work out deal with North Carolina so Hardy does not go to jail

NHL and their head shots/concussions issues

The league has come up with a 5 step plan to curve to curb concussions which goes as follows:

1. former player Brendan Shanahan working with NHLPA on equipment reforms;

2. Player who looks concussed they will be removed from the bench area and sent to a quiet spot where a medical doctor (not the team therapist) gives the player a SCAT test before possibly returning to the game;

3. Repeat offenders on illegal hit to the head will cause the head coach and/or the team will be penalized as well;

4. A safety engineer will do a full evaluation of the playing area at each of the league's 30 rinks and the individual areas will have to conform to higher safety standards;

5. Putting a blue ribbon panel together of former players, current players, team GMs, and maybe owners to look at the issues of concussions going forward;

In reality the NHL needs to get serious about disciplining players who hit opponents in the head like given them a suspension of 20 or more games automatically which means that even if it is completely accidental like the Chara hit and Drew Doughty getting hit into a stanchion as well along with the hit Sidney Crosby took on New Year's day. If the league does not put their foot down after their poster boy Sidney Crosby gets a concussion and be out for months and the possibly of basically having him not being the same again just like Marc Savard who has not played very many games since the Matt Cooke hit that put him on the sidelines practically ever since. Until the NHL sets an example with a player getting over 10 games or even over 20 games for a head hit the fans will not take them seriously and that goes double for the players which is a very scary thing because until the players have a fear in their mind that they will be suspended huge for a hit to the head.

Which means that they will continue to hurt each other and put their co-workers on the sideline in-diffidently and hurt their chances to make a living in the sport or even away from the sport and it looks like nobody has learned anything from the Bertuzzi's incident as ended Steve Moore's normal life, the Chris Simon's incident where he took down Jarkko Ruutu and walked over the back of his leg with his skates. The Marty McSorley incident where he swung his stick and hit Donald Brashear in the head and Brashear hit his head on the ice and lost consciousness and suffered a grade 3 concussion and McSorley got an in-diffidently suspension but he was at the end of his career anyways. If they wanted to be taken seriously why not suspend Trevor Gillies in-diffidently after being sat down for 9 games and when he came back it took less than 2 minutes on the ice of his game back he hit Cal Clutterbuck from behind and got suspend again this time for 10 games which is nothing for a guy who clearly did not get the message the first time.

When the NHL takes the actions of their players seriously only than will everybody else

Jeff Hardy arrested after the Victory Road PPV

Jeff Hardy after his main event match which was cut down to a 88 second squash match as Eric Bischoff had to come down at the beginning of the match to tell Jeff that the police were backstage arrest him because he was in no shape to perform which would cause him to break a rule in his probation for his earlier charges for carrying drugs. He will be going back to court early is week. This also comes on the heels of him getting married to long time girlfriend Beth Brett and it looks like he has crumbed under the pressure of going back to court and even with all the extensions that he has received over the last quite a few month and it maybe over this time and he must be feeling that he will finally be receiving jail time for his transgressions in the past. I do not know if TNA will finally cut ties with him for the last time and maybe after a while he may end up back in the WWE after he cleans up after leaving jail if it comes to that because Vince or Triple H will figure the WWE can get a final big payday out of him and maybe even Matt Hardy my come in with him and do a last run as a tag team.

Hopefully it is not the beginning of the end for TNA as really the Hardys are not real draws anymore as it should be all about the younger upcoming stars that can build the company into a bigger threat to the WWE and it is not a quick fix but a slow build.

Also news from the WWE it has been announced that Rock will be on Raw April 4 which is the day after WrestleMania 27 which will continue the story of Cena and the Rock that will lead to either a match on Raw that night or it will be a setup for a match during SummerSlam this August which would get a nice build and give the WWE a great Pay-Per-View buy which the WWE is dearly in need of. Shelton Benjamin did a dark match this past week for the WWE and will find him back into the WWE and probably be in another money in the bank which he dominates almost every year with his high spots.

Update...

Hardy looks to have been able to walk out the back door on his own and made it to court today and got another continuance and Matt twitted that Jeff was fine and that he was diffidently fine and the court date has been moved to next month. More @ Jeff Hardy court case is moved back by the district attorney and his upcoming TNA schedule.

Update

Jeff Hardy was sentenced to 10 days in jail on Thursday September 8, 2011 with the dates to still be announced and he was given 30 month probation and a 10,000 dollar fine as apart of his plea bargain so that he would not have an active prison sentence. This sentence is for a drug charge where he had a permanency in his car almost two years ago in September 2009 and will still be able to work for TNA and he will spend time in Jail when he is not working and he will have his sentence lessened for good behavior.

Hardy,Hardy, Hardy what are we going to do with Jeff Hardy

Teacher's pension plan looking into selling their shares of MLSE

Teacher's pension plan looking into selling their shares of MLSE which is the company that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, the Toronto Marlies, Toronto FC, the Air Canada Centre, The Leafs TV, and the NBA TV. The sky is the limit for the price tag on this huge package and 90% of the price tag will be the price to buy the Maple Leafs as they are a good 40 to 50 million dollars of profit if not more as they made a very good profit before the lockout when they spent 90 million dollars a season ( not very smartly at least ). Just imagine the amount of profit the Leafs make on a 60 million dollar salary cap and yes I know they put a big cheque into the hat to support those teams that should not be in the NHL. the Raptors are about 5% of the package because the fans still support the Raptors even when they are so sucky and the Air Canada Centre is about 4% of the package as the centre is package a lot of nights of the year and the concession stands are always hoping and then Toronto FC and the Marlies are just throw ins.

The open offer will be over a billion dollars and could get over 1.5 billion dollars and the most interested partner to buy into MLSE is rumored to be Rogers communication and pension plan have hired Morgan Stanley to find buyers to get the biggest price tag and if he is really wants a team maybe Jim Balsillie but not likely when he has been try to get another hockey team into the area for 300 to 400 million. So it is likely that Bell will get involved in the bidding war against Rogers because Bell would not like to have Rogers controlling all of the Raptors and more importantly the Maple Leafs games (except Saturday night as CBC will continue to have Saturday night Leaf hockey) and I guarantee that if Rogers gets control of MLSE and the teacher's 66% of the shares all of the games will be on Rogers Sportsnet One that Bell customers do not get this channel.

Rogers communication has all the money to make this happen and buy MLSE but just like when Harold Ballard swooped in with the help of banks and bought up the rest of the shares of the Maple Leafs from his partners because he had first dibs on buying the rest of the shares. Now instead of it being Harold Ballard it is Larry Tanenbaum who can match any offer the pension plan gets from anyone and if he is able to come up with the billion and a half dollars through bank loans and favors he will diffidently own the 66% of the team that the pension plan owns as he has always wanted to own MLSE outright. Tanenbaum would own 87% of MLSE and the only other partner left would be TD Capital's 13% in what I would guess would be from a loan or a money grab when Tanenbaum and pension plan put up all the money to build the Air Canada Centre back in the late 90's.

Will see who gets the Pension Plan's shares in MLSE

Dana White and Zuffa have bought up StrikeForce

Dana White and Zuffa have taken over StrikeForce and will try to strength the product and try to build mega matches and the build of Bobby Lashley as a monster competitor and I believe that Strikeforce will be used for building up new fighters on their TV on showtime. When fighters become bigger stars they will be put on UFC pay-per-view and this agreement will give the UFC more talent to work their bi-monthly and monthly pay-per-view. The idea of the Grand Prix is a good idea and is something to build off of because it is something new and the female fighters are something the UFC has decided to not have female fighters.

It will hurt the fighters because now there is no other place for when they are a free agent and will not have a bargaining chip in their contract negotiation with Dana White and Zuffa which means that they will have a lot less guaranteed money and the bonuses may go down quite a bit over the next little bit. This is because the UFC does not need to fight for their talent because if they do not like it when their deals are finish they basically can leave MMA altogether as Bellidore is a far cry to either the UFC or Stikeforce. The reason I believe this is because the amount if money for bonuses is not announced before the end of the night which means Dana and Zuffa just come up with a number and if they can give out 25,00-30,000 bonuses instead of 60,000-75,000 they would.

In the end I believe that Dana and Zuffa are going to be the winners as they are going to make a whole lot more money going forward. Also Dana is a marketing guru and will continue to put the fights the fans want on and unlike Vince McMahon when he bought up WCW and ECW and buried both as MMA you really can not bury fighters because the good fighters will be good, the great fighters will be great, and the not so good fighters will be out of the business. This is because you can try to protect fighters like Kimbo Slice but they can also be destroyed as quickly as they were built up as it is not fixed and whenever two fighters step into the cage anyone can win like any other none fixed sport.

UFC in Toronto in just over a month yeah

The Sportsnet the Fan 590 has finally named a morning host to take on Mike Richards and TSN Radio

The Fan 590 has decided to go a morning show tag team of Greg Brady and Jim Lang and will be continuing the role from 5:30-9AM that they have been doing for a few weeks and in a month they will be introduced to their maker known as Mike Richards and most likely going to be buried alive very quickly after he starts. I do not understand the decision to put these two up against Richards as it will be a complete no contest and really I can not believe they did not go after a bigger name like George but did not try hard enough to get one as they needed to make a huge splash in the market as the Fan is completely stale. It would not surprise me when the tag team experiment does not work that they drop the money and get the name to take listeners away from Richards which could be a good plan because maybe nobody will take him off the hop and later it maybe easier to take him down.

Greg Brady staying on the morning show has made it necessary to move to have Daren Millard joining the hockey central @ noon join Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean again because he used to do this hour on the Fan along with Rogers Sportsnet TV before Greg Brady joined the Fan and took his spot away from him. This is going to be the team that will be taken on Steve Kouleas and his crew @ noon on TSN Radio when it goes live on April 13Th and his crew could be very very strong with a couple of huge insiders with Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger could be used to strength the program.

Andrew Krystal has quietly been put into the 1 to 3 PM slot which is just before his buddy Bob McCown's Prime Time Sports program and will be there for a while especially if he does not screw up again as his talk about UFC being Gay was a douse and he has probably learned his lession. Also he will not make fun of the program after his because it is way stronger than the Jeff Blair show and he is much better fans with Bob McCown than with Jeff Blair as McCown is the one who hired him and the one that made sure he was not fired.

So in the end TSN Radio will make their money in the morning and the Fan will make their money on the drive home show until Michael does the drive home on TSN Radio and a bigger name morning show host for the fan 590 they are both no contests. The winner will be the one that gets the stronger ratings throughout the day and will see what TSN comes up with around Mike Richards and Steve Kouleas because everything except Bobcat is weak on the Fan 590 and their triple threat of TV, Radio, and Internet is weak to because TSN has all 3 too.

Fan 590 is in for rude awakening

Zdeno Chara/Max Pacioretty incident

Zdeno Chara did what a lot of hockey players in the Bell Center and hit Max Pacioretty into the boards and Max hit the stanchion that was at the end of the bench opening and the beginning of the glass and of course the fans have cheered very loudly when it is a Canadiens player driven an opponent into this same spot. If Chara had not finished his check and Pacioretty had gotten past him and gone down and scored a goal to make it 5-0 Canadiens and the talk would be about the 6'9 Chara who will be 34 years old next Friday as he did not finishing his check in a blowout loss which will put him on a huge hot seat going into the playoffs with a top 3 seed. The reality is that the check happened in the wrong spot in arena as it just would be a solid hit into the boards and it was not a hit from behind and the broken neck and the serious concussion that Pacioretty suffered was an accident. The only concern that I have is that it looked like Chara followed through with his hand and may or may not have lead Pacioretty's head into the stanchion which would be a split second decision.

The ramifications of this incident is that the Montreal Canadiens will have to put up a lot more padding on the stanchion while Mike Murphy decided that because Chara has a clean record he would not receive a suspension for his act on the ice. we learned that people in Montreal now the number for the police as a number of them phoned the police and demanded that some legal action needs to be taken towards Chara. In a response to this from the police is that they will look into the situation and I believe that it is to try to come down the citizens of Montreal and some how air canada has come forward and is thinking about dropping their sponsorship of the NHL which Gary Bettman feels is fine because he has a feeling that other plane companies will come forward and pick up the NHL's charter business as the teams need to get from game to game in their 82 game season plus playoffs. Max Pacioretty from his hospital bed with his broken neck said that he was disappointed in the league not handing down a suspension which is a normal reaction from a person in his position and also that he does not remember what happened to which is where the concussion fits in so he watch some replays of the incident on TV and feels like Chara lead his head into the stanchion but replays make everything look worst.

In the end I believe that Chara was just finishing his check and had no idea that this would be the end result but I also believe that one of these days the NHL will need to put their foot down hard on hits to the head so even if Chara got like the rest of the season and playoffs and the league set now guidelines for these head shots I would of not have a problem with it even though he did not deserve it. A playoff match-up between the Bruins and Canadiens would be like a Red Wing and Avalanche battle at the turn of the century and it is not only this incident as the game before this one that they had played against each other had a whole lot of penalties including Carey Price in a fight and a total of 14 goals scored in the game which was the back drop to this game.

Will see what happens next

The 14 anniversary of Notorious B.I.G. death

Sadly the beginning of end of the East against the West Hip Hop battle when Notorious B.I.G. was shoot dead by an unknown assailant in a drive by shooting on March 9Th,1997 in Los Angeles after an after party of the soul train awards which was a follow up to the September 13Th,1996 which was another drive by shooting in Las Vegas by another unknown assailant where Tupac Sakura was killed after leaving a Mike Tyson boxing fight. The end result is that it looks like a West Coast person took down B.I.G. while a East Coast person took down Sakura along with real was the end of the battle between East Vs West hip hop battle. It was unnecessary for these acts to have to happen and the untimely death of these 2 promising artists having to be taken out to finish a grudge off.

The worst part of the Notorious B.I.G. death is what happened after his death which was his producer and so called friend Sean "puffy" Combs took advantage of his death by putting Notorious on an album where he used it to just promote his other acts which just did not feel right at the time and I still feel he a little slimy to this day. Notorious had some good music at the time of his death and I believe he was just hitting his stride and would of been a monster artist in the following years and it would of changed the whole music industry heading towards the turn of the century like year later people were introduced to the Backstreet Boys along with 'N Sync and then a year after that they are introduced to Britney Spears and then Christina Aguilera came of age too. If Notorious B.I.G. was still alive maybe he would of made music that would of made it unlikely these other acts would of made it successfully.

Not a happy day for me

Todd Bertuzzi and Steve Moore incident on its 7th anniversary

Todd Bertuzzi and Steve Moore incident

It all started very simply when on February 16, 2004 Steve Moore, a rookie center for the Colorado Avalanche with a Harvard education, checked Markus Näslund, the team captain of the Vancouver Canucks who at the time was the league leader in scoring, in the head when Näslund was reaching for the puck just ahead of him. Näslund ended up with a concussion and a bone chip in his elbow and missed 3 games and the situation escalated to a fever pitch when the referee Dan Marouelli did not call a plenty on the play and Canucks head coach Marc Crawford said that Dan Marouelli and the other referee Rob Martell needs to respect the league leading scorer while Canucks GM Brain Burke said "a marginal player going after a superstar with a headhunting hit" while Canucks players spoke out loudly against the hit.

The next time the two teams meet on March 3Rd commissioner Gary Bettman was in attendance and there was no incident happened but 5 days later it hit the fan when they meet in Vancouver and 6 minutes into the game Steve Moore fought with Matt Cooke, a real creep now with the Penguins and is a disturber, and you would think he did his part sticking up for himself but with three more fights in the first period. NHL executive vice-president Colin Campbell and director of officiating Andy van Hellemond phoned the two referees doing this game during the first intermission to keep them aware of potential physical altercations. By midway through the third period the Canucks were up 8-2 and sadly this is when Todd Bertuzzi was on the ice with Steve Moore and was just trailing him around like a stalker which ended with him grabbing the back of Moore's Jersey and punched him in the back of the head and then a brawl broke out around his non-moving body which was scary as much as the punch because he could of been cut with a skate blade. Todd Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the regular season with was 13 games and the playoffs which was 7 games and then was not able to play during the lockout which shut down the league for a whole season.

Bringing it full circle on its 7Th anniversary of the incident Todd Bertuzzi has been able to play hockey ever since the end of the lockout and has made good money while Steve Moore has not been able to play hockey or even go on living a normal life and going out to getting a very good job with his Harvard education. Then you look at the condition of Steve Moore who has gotten bad news because his brain injury that he still has will remain with him the rest of his life which is very sad because it was unnecessary for Bertuzzi actions even if he was sticking up for his team as Moore did man up against Matt Cooke earlier in the game.

Then we get to the saddest part of this story where nobody has taken responsibility for the situation as everybody is pointing figures at each other especially Marc Crawford who Bertuzzi came out and said that he had told him to take him out. Even now Steve Moore and if people have not had their day in court yet and we are talking 7 years after the incident happened but hopefully it will conclude soon as they have finally found a place that will hear the case which is Toronto after they originally tried to have the case heard in Colorado but they were unsuccessful in that attempt. They decided to go for Toronto where Moore lives than Vancouver were the incident happened and the home of the group of people responsible for what happened and may be a little favorable towards the Canucks along with former Canucks like Bertuzzi and Crawford.

Lets hope Moore gets his day

Charlie Sheen fired by CBS who has ideas to continue the show but may not be able to

Charlie Sheen going off the deep end and it is landed him off Two and a half man and CBS has decided to put Rob Lowe in Sheen's place for maybe a final season to rap up the show and send everybody on their way as Rob Lowe will not likely come even close to matching the ratings that Sheen has put up.

I believe that it is a good move for CBS because he so out there that one of two things is going on with him with one being that he is tried off the show and wants off so bad that he is totally doing the best acting job of his career as a suicidal drugged up drunken guy who is able to have a camera in his face constantly. The other is that he has gone off the deep end completely and he is a hazard to himself and having him not down a couple of pegs is a good thing as he maybe able to put him into a rehab program now to save his life before he is 6 feet under.

The only problem with this is that it looks like Charlie Sheen has a claws in his contract called the Micheal J Fox claws which is when a guy is forced to leave the show for whatever reason and still get him pay for all the reminding episodes of the show like when Michael J Fox had to leave because of his illness and Charlie Sheen replaced him on Spin City. Which means that if Rob Lowe or anyone else takes over his spot on the show he will receive his pay check even if he does not work on the show but CBS feels that they fired him with reason while Charlie Sheen feels he was not rightfully fired. It comes down to this one point that CBS can not fire Charlie Sheen under the reasoning that he is addicted to drugs and alcohol and is unable to perform his duties on the show and because of this they will have to can the whole series and rename it and completely change the plot of the series so Sheen can not sue them for his money for the extra episodes.

If everything falls apart for the whole Two and a half men series it looks like Mark Cuban and his HDnet is coming at Charlie Sheen hard because Cuban has decided he would be best off if he can get Charlie Sheen to do a reality series.

Charlie Sheen is messed up

The battle between NFL owners and their players has also missed the point of the sport

The Owners and the Players of the NFL have missed the point of playing football as Owners like Jerry Jones Dan Snyder who want a bigger piece of the pie because they can make bigger profits on their own in the markets they have their teams in as they also do not want to prop up teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills. Don't get me wrong all teams make money as the TV revenue equals the salary cap so that the revenue from the ticket sales is only used to pay the player bonuses which means that everybody is in the black even with the Jaguars having 35,000 to 40,000 fans in the stands. The Owners also want to add 2 games to the regular season and take 2 games away from the pre-season schedule as nobody shows up for pre-season games and the teams do not play their stars usually in the pre-season and if they add the games to the regular season it will give teams a bigger payday with another home regular season game.

The Players are looking for more money and in the end the only players with the huge paydays are 10-15 players on each team who are making the majority of the team's salary caps where the rest of the team makes 2 million or less and a lot of the players make the league minimum salary which is just 310,000 which is a huge payday for the average Joe. This piles in compare with the idea of a guy like Tom Brady making 18 million average along with Payton Manning who will be getting a contract where he will average over 20 million a season when he signs his new deal after the battle over the new CBA is finished. IF the Owners get their way and get the extra regular season game the Players want to have the extra 2 games to be prorated into their contracts and have the team's number of players to be larger than it has been.

But the real issue is that the coaching staff of the KC Chiefs are going to cut their coaching staff pay by 10 % and the head coach and GM will take a 20 % cut while the New York Jets are going to cut their staff salaries by 25 % and if it lasts 90 days they may have to take a 50 % pay cut. I have also heard that the team reps and sales people have been told that they may have to take a week on and a week off without pay situation along with if you feel sorry for the players just remember that their are a number of former players that are like on welfare or on the streets and even hall of famers are in this possession. So the only thing that could save face for either the Players or Owners would be to give their salary for like a year to a group of former players and I mean like the top stars who are making like around 8 million and higher and the Owners could keep paying their staff their full pay throughout the labor issues.

So I hope that the Players and Owners remember who will get hurt during a labor issue and make sure that they take care of the little people so that they do not suffer when they diffidently do not need to.

Do the Right Thing

Michael Landsberg wants to take on Bob McCown as the afternoon drive spot as the launch date has announced

Michael Landsberg has been exchanging ideas with powers to be at TSN and wants to take the challenge but he is scared of what might happen to off the record if he does the TSN Radio drive home show because he does not want to weaken his TV product which he wants to continue to do the TV and along with the radio.

I think Michael Landsberg would have a hard time to take the audience away from Bobcat even though he could get big sports stars that Bobcat has said that "I do not like to talk to athletes because they only use their sport speak and I do not like that because I can not get the truth out of them". I still think that Bobcat has the pull with the sport insiders along with GMs of the sports along with like people involved with the day key stories along with the format of Bobcat's Prime Time Sports is very strong and would be hard to take it down. Right now TSN has scheduling in american radio talent with both the Jim Rome Show and the Dan Patrick Show to fill their afternoon drive home spot but diffidently could and will be changed by April 13Th.

The thing about Michael Landsberg doing the job is that they would have to move the Off The Record time slot to a later time like moving it back to 6 P.M. or maybe even have it moved to like 11 P.M.. Which would have it up against the other talk shows which maybe a death nail and like they would have to change some of the topics as some of them are based towards what is happen during that night's sports action and would be out of date by airing it late.

The date of the launch of TSN Radio has been announced and it will happen on April 13Th and the reason for this date is because it is the first day of the NHL playoffs along with the last day of the NBA regular season. This is the biggest day in sports in April with all that excitement of the beginning of the NHL playoffs and the pairings for the NBA playoffs will be set and TSN can promo the radio product leading up to the launch like when they do their playoff previews and during the playoff hockey games.

In disappointing news for people looking for someone strong to match up with Mike Richards and right now the rumor is that the Fan 590 has been talking with Joey Vendetta who used to be a Q107 disc jockey and did do an one off on the fan 590 earlier this year or late last year and it could be a horrible thing because have a non sports guy trying to take down Mike Richards may not work but George Stroumboulopoulos is a sports guy with a lot of non sports people.

So the wheel of Toronto sports radio keeps on turning

A tribute to the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans

A tribute to the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans

(Dedicated to one of the biggest Maple Leafs fans ever meet Frankie on his birthday)

The Toronto Maple Leafs fans put on your leafs pajamas get your blue and write drink ready as the reinforcements are already on James Reimer's back as he is going to be carrying the Leafs on his back into the playoffs. The Leafs have not been in the playoffs since 2004 so lets remember the good Ol' days of been in the playoffs like when the Maple Leafs score the city erupt in a huge cheer and when they win a series it like a huge traffic jam with lots of horns being blow or even being broken. The days when Doug Gilmour had his wrap around goal in double overtime Vs Curtus Joesph and the Blues on the 63 shot of the game and Nikki Borschevsky goal against the Detroit Red Wings in 93 in game 7 too along with Mike Foligno overtime goal in game 5 against the Rd Wings when he jumps madly into the air after scoring the goal. To having a tribute song about one of the time actually won the Stanley Cup called " 50 mission cap " by the Tragically Hip which was about Bill Barilko who won the Leafs the Cup and then disappeared in a plane crash along with a song "Maple Leafs Forever" into their own song. To have 11 cups in 35 years and then not have another in 44 years and still being able to stand by the team like it is the greatest thing since sliced bread when there has way more bad times than good is completely amazing. Like I will always remember may first ever day of working for my own money just happens to be the day after Wayne Gretzky high-sticked Doug Gilmour in game 6 of the Western Conference final in 93 and was not called and has been talked about ever since. To all those rip your heart moments in Conference Finals when your hopes were so high and to have all that excitement of being tied 2-2 with the New Jersy Devils in the second round of the 2001 Stanley Cup playoffs as they were winning by 2 goals with seconds left when Tie Domi went into business for himself by checking Scott Niedermayer into boards from behind and given the Devils the motivation to get to the Stanley Cup final. Where a guy Leafs fans are so crazy grabbing so many tickets to the games in Carolina that when the Leafs played the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final in 2002 the Hurricanes had put a policy in place where only people Carolina or neighboring states could buy tickets to game 7 which was another game 7 disappointment. The Leafs fans are so passionate about their team sell out the Gardens and now the ACC so that most games are standing room only crowds while they complain about the suits who get the best seats in the house and still on their hands during games. While a Maple Leafs lost into the crowd and while play kept going the fan tossed the stick back to him and he kept playing with it which was amazing to see happening.

I differently have to give Maple Leafs fans credit for putting up with Habs fans chanting 67 at Leafs and their fans when the Leafs play in Montreal and having to be the only original 6 team to not win a cup in the post original era and still stand by their Leafs and cheer louder than ever as their best young goalie in quite a while who looks strong enough to give Leafs fans a chance to experience the playoffs again.

Let's hope the Leafs finish strong happy birthday Frankie

The Miami take a 73-49 early in third, the Magic go on a 40-9 run, and Bosh does what after the game

Last night the Miami Heat played their do it yourself offense as they only had 13 assists in the game and it work out for them as they put up 63 points in the first half and lead 63-45 and 3:40 into the third quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 73-49 lead before the Magics went on a 40-9 run to take a 8 point lead 89-82. The Heat had 33 points in the second quarter and followed it up with 33 points in the second half but did have a 14-10 run down the stretch in the last 5:12 of the game but fell 99-96 when King James missed a 25 feet 3 ball at the end of the game and then Chris Bosh picked up the ball throw the ball into the court in frustration after going 5 for 15 from the floor and I wished it had come back up and hit in the chin and knocked him loopy. The story of the game is that Dwight Howard had 18 boards of the Magics 37 boards to go with his 14 points and as they out boarded the Heat by 2 37-35 and James Richardson hit 6 3 balls in the game and had 24 to lead the way for the Magic and the Magic were red heat from 3 going 16 for 29 in the game from beyond the arch. While James had 29 points and Wade had 28 points while the rest of the team had 39 points so that James and Wade went cold in the second half as they went off for 18 of 21 from the floor and 49 points in the first half while they combined for 10 points in the second half as Wade did not make second half field goal as they are now 4 and 4 in their last 8 games as they lost to Boston, Chicago, and New York too so they are not able to handle the class of the east so their in big trouble.

Have a good day
