Henry Burris was benched for past weekend's game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in favor of Drew Tate who lead the Stamps to a 25-13 so it looks like his time is up in Calgary. So the reality is that the 36 year old quarterback may need a new home and Toronto is really in need of a leader that can turn the Argos around and hopefully bring a few more fans in to the stands or like 10,000 of them by putting a winning team on the field and this maybe easier then in most sports as they only have to better than three other teams. Henry Burris would be another positive asset like the defense that has been the back bone to the team for over a decade and with a running back like Cory boyd if the Argos could get better wide receivers the Argos would be able to loosing up the defense inside the run box and the offense would be so much better. If the Argos are looking for wide receivers the best place to start would be Saskatchewan as they have so many great Canadian wide receivers like Rob Bags, Andy Fantuz, and Chris Getzlaf so try to get one of these wide outs as it is important to have Canadian players that earn their way on the field instead of having to be on the field simply because of the Canadian ratio. If they are not able to get one of these three guys out of the Saskatchewan they may try like Montreal or use a very high second round draft pick on a top Canadian university wide receiver who has already played on the longer and wider fields already.
So Henry Burris leading a talented team into the playoffs and for the Argos sake playing in the 100th Grey Cup next November on their home field @ the Rogers Centre but there is a little problem that Burris has had since being the starter for the Calgary Stampeders and that is that he has had very talented teams and finished very high in the Western division. Then when it comes to the playoffs it has almost always ended in what could of been as they have only won a single Grey Cup with him under center which happened in 2008 which is the only appearance during his stay in Calgary.
So if he comes to Toronto Argos fans are hoping it is more like the Damon Allen experience than the Kerry Joesph debacle as Damon Allen came in gave the fans a great one man offensive show that amazed many fans and brought in a Grey Cup celebration while Joesph just gave fans headaches and they left in droves.
Even as a roughrider fan I still understand that if the CFL is going to be the best it can be then they really need a strong team in Toronto
