So on Sunday the Oakland Raiders lost their starting quarterback Jason Campbell who suffered a broken collarbone and had surgery on Monday and will be out at least 6 weeks so they decided to go out and trade their first round draft pick in 2112 to Cincinnati for disgruntled quarterback Carson Palmer. They made this trade in hopes to make the playoffs as they are 4 and 2 and they are actually winning games outside of the division as they have already won three games this season and they had only two all of last year and are a game behind the Chargers who have not look impressive on their way to a 4 and 1 start this season. If they win a game in the playoffs it will cost them their 2013 first round pick as well and in return they are getting a pass happy quarterback in Carson Palmer who as a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals had a 46 and 51 record and only took them to the playoffs twice and is 0 and 2 in those games. Carson Palmer since being drafted by the Bengals in 2003 he thrown for 22.694 yards and has completed 62.9 % of his passes and has thrown 154 TDs and 100 INTs in his first 8 seasons in the NFL but with his subpar season in 2010 where throw 20 INTs which tied his career high and looked to be more of the problem then the solution not able to get either Terrell Owens or Chad Johnson the ball in what was a disastrous season.
On the other hand U have the 4 and 2 Bengals with their first round pick in this past draft who in his first 6 games under center has been very good especially after being 10 for 15 for 81 yards and a TD in his debut before getting injured and in his last three games is 3 and 0 throwing for 741 yards with 4 TDs and 3 INTs. So now the Bengals got a first round draft pick for a guy not on their roster and have cleaned house and took the me, me, me kind of bad energy which includes Palmer more than originally thought and if the Raiders won a playoff game they get an extra first round pick which is an extremely sweet deal.
Now Carson Palmer will have to figure out the Raider system and they will simplify it for him to start and it is a much different game plan in Oakland as he will not be throwing the ball as much with Darren McFadden carrying the ball close to 20 times a game while averaging 3 catches and 25 yards a game receiving and it will take a lot of pressure of Palmer which can only be a good thing.
Lets hope its a good deal for both teams and the Raiders can have one more playoff run for Al Davis
