a mother day message

(this blog entry is dedicated to my mother Gretchen Mehegan)

With mother's day tomorrow I felt like writing a blog entry on mothers so mothers are very important as they raise their child(ren) and give them the tools to grow up big and strong. They also are there when your child(ren) are upset and try to help them figure out how to make it better and then other times they are tough and do not back down when they need to teach their child(ren) a lesson that will hopefully help them in the long run.

My mother has always been a single mom and I was born with a disability so it would be a bit tougher than some other mothers and this is because it is diffidently tougher dealing and molding a child with a disability as there are a number of difficult challenges that you get do not get with an able body child. Sometimes it could be that they are not able to walk and are basically dependent on a wheelchair to get around and not able to do things that would be second nature like feeding themselves and dressing themselves. Then their are people like me that can walk but would be taken to physical therapy to be able to use arms and legs more effectively along with being a tiny bit slower at picking up skills like reading and writing and mothers would worry am I doing all I can to help my child grow up into a young adult along with needing extra car rides to go places that able body people would not need to be able to just get up and go when they feel like it as your not able to phone up wheel trans and you have to make an appointment and then U get a time window when U will be picked up and U need to be ready when they get there because if U miss the ride U can be penalized by being kicked off the service or getting a warning that can lead to being kick off the service the next time.

So my mom has done as much as she has needed to do to help build me into the guy that I am and while she was doing that she also decided to go to teachers college at night a couple of days a week to become a teacher while being an insurance agent by day. Then when she got her paper work done she had to start as a substitute high school teacher for a couple years while also being an insurance agent before finally get an opportunity to become a full-time high school teacher working a school she did not like and had to wait for her opportunity to get to work at a school that liked.

Happy Mother's day MEHEGAN
