The not one, not two, not three .... not seven but eight championship Heat are in their second straight Finals appearance and this time they up against the very youthful Thunder from OKC who have already have finished off the last three western conference team to be crowned NBA champs as they took down last seasons Champs in the first round in sweeping away the Mavs in four, then they took down the 2010 champs in the Lakers in five games, and finally finished off the 2007 champs in five games as took down the Spurs.
It has been to completely different ways to get to the finals as the Thunder used late comebacks to take games as they rallied in the fourth quarter in both the first and last game against the Mavs. Then they took games away from the Lakers as they were down by 8 with two minutes left in game three and scored the last 10 points as Durant and Harden combine to score the last 10 points. In game four they closed the game on a 18-6 run lead by Durant who had 7 of the last 11 Thunder points and ran away with game 5 as a 6 point lead going into the fourth turned into a 16 point victory as Westbrook and Durant had 8 points each in the fourth quarter. Then after the Spurs won their 20th straight game and a 2-0 lead the Thunder just schooled them winning the last 4 games of the series as the Spurs fought and just could not get over the hump.
While in Miami it has been a playoffs of no Bosh and then he comes back he only plays the first half of game 5 and then after the lose he throws his head coach under the bus and drives it over him at full speed over and over again when he said he could of played more minutes and was hoping to get more minutes the next game. LBJ played 92 of the last 96 minutes of the Heat/Celtics series as put up 76 points and 27 boards and in game 6 became the second guy behind Wilt to ever record 45-15-5 in a playoff game. The Heat playoff run will be remembered by twitter @AAAExtinguisher when Amar'e Stoudemire punched it after game two of the Heat and Knicks opening round series and then after game 5 in Miami after game 5 of the Heat/Celtics series a 9 year-old named Jack Meyer could be heard yelling "good job, good effort" to the Heat as they walked off the court after losing the game and the phrase was diffidently trending on twitter.
The Series will also put up a three-time MVP in LBJ against a three-time in Kevin Durant who had their different ways to announce their signing a contract as LBJ in July of 2010 had a hour special to announce he was taken his talents to south beach while Durant at the same time quietly used less than 140 characters on twitter to announce he was signing a 5 year extension with OKC. So in their different ways of getting the same message across LBJ is one of the most hated people in Basketball while Durant is the poster boy of everything good about the NBA.
With the ages and talent of both teams this maybe the next rivalry in the NBA as they might battle for championships for seasons just like the Celtics and Lakers did in the 80's and the Bulls and Pistons did in the late 80's/early 90's
