The most impactful former CFLer is Cameron Wake formully of the BC Lions and now is sacking quarterbacks and stripping Brett Farve in the end zone to win the game for the Miami Dolphins. It is his second season with the Dolphins with spot duty last year with 1 game start and this year he has started every one of the 8 games for the Dolphins this season where he has 8.5 sasks so far this season which puts him 1St in the AFC and 2Nd in the NFL. While he was with BC Lions he was a sack monster as he had more sacks than some CFL teams in his finally year in the CFL and he would open up other players to get to the QB because he was always was double teamed.
Another former CFLer is Stefan Logan who is also a former BC Lion who is in his second season in the NFL and last year he was a kick returner for the Pittsburgh Steelers and had one reception for 5 years ontop of his kick returning yards. This season now with the Detroit Lions he has 1 rush for 21 yards but he also has a 105 yard TD kick return and averaging 29.4 yards a kick return. When he was with the BC Lions he was mainly a kick returner who got touches as a running back too and set the team record for kick return yards in a season with 1466 yards.
But most former CFLers are like John Chick who was the CFL Defensive Player in the 2009 season for the Saskatchenwan Roughriders and now he is on the Indianapolis Colts practice roster. Players if the opprtunity to be on a NFL practice roster than come back to play in the CFL is because they can make way more money just practicing 2 or 3 days a week at most than playing 18 games in a CFL regular season.
Some players like Rickey Folley and Stevie Baggs try out for a NFL team but do not make the cut and have not shown enough during the pre-season to get a practice roster spot come back to the CFL and some go back to their orginal team or like these 2 players they find a better deal with another CFL team. Some players come back to the CFL like nothing ever happened and play like they did when they were in the CFL before and some can come back with a chip on their shoulder and just not as focused as when they left even if they had not missed a CFL season.
