Loblaws ready for opening of Walmart @ Gerrard Square
Loblaws @ lake shore has been a step ahead of Walmart @ Gerrard square by already being open for 24-hours a day while Walmart is still working on getting a fire exit becoming their main entrance so they could open 24-hours a day.
Also Loblaws was able to not renew lease for the Bulk Burn and dollar store at the end of 2012 so they could reopen the areas as apart of Loblaws and put in their clothing lines that run at the bigger Loblaws along with toys, and supplies. While Walmart who bought the smaller Zellers from Target has tried to muscle the neighboring businesses to enlarge their space so that they could be able to put a grocery store in it but right now they are still not able to push out them yet.
Finally Loblaws has been marking their prices down across the board to match the Walmart prices heading into the grand opening weekend of January 25-27, 2012 and have super employees making sure that there is enough bins and carts at their entrances at all times. While there is consent customers and enough cashiers working on the floor to keep the lines moving and not having to have them wait.
Loblaws looks to be very strong mind and looking to stay ahead of the devil a.k.a. Walmart and have also charged the hours at their Woodbine Valu-mart site to not try to lose a lot of their customers.
I hope Loblaws keeps a step ahead of the devil
