As it is a new year and thought to myself what would the Canadian teams in the Western Conference wish for in the year 2012.
Calgary Flames would wish that Jerome Iginla played the preseason like it was October and November were only again fell way below the point a game mark that he needs to be at help make the Flames a success as he had 12 points in 23 games which is 0.521 points a game and the Flames were 10-12-1 in 23 games. In December he has 18 points in 16 games which is 1.125 points a game and the Flames are 8-4-4 in those 16 games and his performances in past years indicate that it will continue into the new year so he will still get like 70 points in the season but because he has no really great supporting cast the Flames will struggle to try and get into to the playoffs so getting something useful for him before it is too late so they can be stronger in the future would be another good wish.
Vancouver Canucks would like Roberto Luongo to play like he has been playing after December where he is 9-1-1 in his last 11 games in April through June when it really counts instead of the 7-6-1 that he was at the beginning til after the December 1st game that he usually plays like in April through June where everybody wonders if he can handle the pressure really not know which Luongo is going to show up night to night. the beginning of the season until after the December 1st game he had a save% of .892 and after the December 1st game it is .940 with two shutouts.
Edmonton Oilers need more support for their first line as the JORDAN EBERLE-RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS-RYAN SMYTH line has accounted for 43 of the teams 100 goals this season (43%) and after Eberle's 39 points, Hopkins's 35 points, and Smyth's 30 points it drops to 24 points for Taylor Hall who has not played 8 of the teams 37 games and then it just keeps dropping from there. So the Oilers need to make like a deal like the Ottawa Senators did for KYLE TURRIS from Phoenix or the Leafs trading Francois Beauchemin to Anaheim Ducks for Joffrey Lupul, Jake Gardiner, and a draft pick which the Leafs would in deep deep trouble without the deal and the Senators got a player with a lot of upside for very little.
Happy New Years everybody
